Sick Day: Tissue Paper Flower Craft For Kids

February 29, 2024

Tissue paper crafts are colorful, easy, and enjoyable for kids who are stuck at home, sick. Here’s a simple tutorial for making Tissue Paper Flowers:

Tissue Paper Flowers:

  1. Tissue paper sheets (various colors)
  2. Pipe cleaners or twist ties
  3. Scissors

  1. Prepare Tissue Paper:
    • Lay several sheets of tissue paper on top of each other. You can use one color or mix and match for a vibrant effect.
  2. Fold Tissue Paper:
    • Accordion-fold the layered tissue paper. The width of the folds will determine the size of the flower, so you can adjust it based on your preference.
  3. Secure the Center:
    • Take a pipe cleaner or twist tie and secure it around the folded tissue paper at the center. Leave the ends of the pipe cleaner long to act as the flower stem.
  4. Round the Ends:
    • Trim the ends of the folded tissue paper into rounded or pointed shapes. This step helps to create the petal-like effect.
  5. Fan Out the Layers:
    • Gently start separating the layers of tissue paper, pulling them toward the center. Do this on one side and then the other until the flower shape begins to take form.
  6. Fluff and Adjust:
    • Once the layers are separated, fluff them up to create a full and blooming effect. Be gentle to avoid tearing the tissue paper.
  7. Repeat:
    • Make as many tissue paper flowers as you like using different colors.

Now you have a beautiful bouquet of tissue paper flowers! Kids can make several and arrange them in a vase for a vibrant and long-lasting decoration. This craft not only enhances fine motor skills but also provides a colorful and fun way for kids to express their creativity … and can keep them busy when they are home sick from school. —Vita Daily
