If you saw the front row of the Chloé Summer 2024 fashion week, or more specifically the footwear of the front row, it may be no surprise to you that … boho is back. The effortless summer style is defined by headscarves, peasant blouses, wedge sandals and ankle-grazing full skirts. Boho chic last peaked in popularity around 2005 (making us right on time, for the recurring twenty-year fashion cycle). It was then led by popular tv show The OC, London it-girl Sienna Miller and trend setting model, Kate Moss. Stylist to the stars, Rachel Zoe also played a key role in the early aughts, when she transformed Nicole Richie’s style from clubbing downtown LA with BFF Paris Hilton, to a staple on Pinterest fashion mood boards.
While the last iteration of this style was marked by excessive mixed metal jewellery, colourful scarves and felted floppy hats, in 2024 the style is being reimagined for a new generation. As this wave of boho chic rides alongside the minimalism and neutral aesthetics, we see a much more reserved version. Loud colours and prints have been swapped for crisp summer whites. Instead of a floppy hat, tie a simple, chic head scarf around your chin. You get the idea.
