We chatted with Janice Marks, SVP of design at Silver Jeans to learn how to rethink denim for the summer. —Farah Khan 

What are the key factors to consider when choosing jeans for the spring and summer seasons? 

The three key factors when choosing jeans for the warmer weather in the spring and summer are fabric, silhouette, and wash. 

Some of my best tips to find the perfect spring and summer fabric, silhouette and wash include:

• Fabric: Look for lighter weight fabrics and fabric blends that are soft and with light weight.
  
• Silhouette: Stay prepared for the heat with seasonal items such as shorts, skirts, cuffed capris and cropped lengths. You can also stay cool with baggier loose cuts which allow for additional circulation in the heat. Boyfriend silhouettes are also a great option with a relaxed silhouette and rolled cuffs.
  
• Wash: Choose light and broken in vintage washes. Light washes reflect light and the broken in wash makes the denim softer and more comfortable in the hot humid weather of the spring and summer season.

Can you recommend specific types/styles of jeans that are particularly well-suited for the spring and summer seasons?
