Celebrity engagements have been fast and furious lately (Hailee Steinfeld, Nina Dobrev and Paris Jackson are all sporting new ‘I do’ bling), but there are a few we’ve *really* been waiting for, with Selena Gomez being at the top of our list. Last night she dropped the happy news on her socials with some pretty epic and emotional photos of her and now-fiancé music producer Benny Blanco totally loved up and celebrating their new nearlywed status.
“Forever begins now” is the caption on Gomez’s Instagram carousel which opens with a perfect snap of her epic engagement ring: a beguiling, multi-carat marquis-shaped diamond set in yellow gold on a blinged-out pave band. Swiping through we see Gomez admiring her ring in a picnic setup complete with a side of Taco Bell takeout and bubbly; the most adorable engagement ring selfie; and the sweetest photo of her and Blanco cuddled up together.
The Gomez and Blanco made their public debut in December 2023, and Gomez has been open in sharing her feelings about her relationship with Blanco. “I’ve never been loved this way,” she told Vanity Fair in the magazine’s October cover story. “He’s just been a light. A complete light in my life. He’s my best friend. I love telling him everything.”
We expect her exquisite and unique engagement ring to catapult marquise-shaped stones to the top of the want list for soon-to-be engageés. Elongated shapes like ovals and pears have been trending for the past several years, loved for their elongating effect on the hand and effortless elegance. The marquise is a fancy cut that has the same effect and also imbues a modern-vintage vibe which is currently so chic.
