In this Q&A, Andrea shares the inspiration behind Touchland, her vision for the future of personal care, and why this launch is a must-have for beauty lovers everywhere. —Noa Nichol

What inspired you to create Touchland, and how did you envision disrupting the personal care industry with a new take on hand hygiene?

I’ve always believed that everyday essentials should spark joy. When I looked at the hand sanitizer market, it felt outdated—sticky, drying, and purely functional. With Touchland, I set out to challenge the idea that hand hygiene was just a necessity. By infusing skincare benefits, aesthetic design, and a fragrance-forward approach, we transformed it into an experience people actually look forward to.

Touchland just launched in Canada—why was now the right time, and what excites you most about bringing the brand to Canadian consumers?

We’ve seen overwhelming demand from Canadian consumers, so this expansion felt like a natural next step. Canadians have a strong appreciation for high-quality, innovative personal care, and we’re excited to introduce them to a new way of experiencing sensorial essentials on the go starting with hand sanitizer—one that’s both effective and sensorially delightful.

Your Power Mist sanitizers have become a cult favourite. What sets them apart from traditional hand sanitizers, and how did you develop the skincare-focused formula?

Power Mist was designed with a skincare-first approach. Unlike traditional hand sanitizers that leave hands dry and irritated, our formula is packed with hydrating ingredients like aloe vera and essential oils. The fine-mist application ensures even coverage without any stickiness, and our signature fragrances turn hand hygiene into a moment of self-care.

Can you tell us more about Gentle Mist and what makes it different from Power Mist? Why was it important to create an ultra-soothing option for sensitive skin?

We wanted to ensure that everyone—including those with sensitive skin—could enjoy the benefits of Touchland. Gentle Mist is dermatologist-tested, Lily of the Valley scented, and infused with soothing ingredients like niacinamide and Centella Asiatica to protect the skin barrier. Some people avoid hand sanitizers due to irritation concerns, so it was important to create a formula that delivers the same efficacy while being extra gentle.

Scent plays a big role in the Touchland experience. How do you go about developing new fragrances, and what makes Wild Watermelon and Berry Bliss stand out?

Fragrance is at the heart of what makes Touchland unique. We work with top perfumers at Givaudan to craft scents that are fresh, fun, and long-lasting. Wild Watermelon and Berry Bliss bring a vibrant, juicy twist to our lineup—playful, nostalgic, and packed with personality. Our goal is to make every mist an experience that elevates the everyday.

Touchland combines functionality with sleek, stylish packaging. How did design play into the brand’s success, and why do you think aesthetics matter in self-care?

From the beginning, we wanted Touchland to be as beautiful as it is effective. Design plays a huge role in how people connect with a product, and we saw an opportunity to bring that philosophy to hand hygiene. Our sleek, modern packaging, inspired by the golden ratio, transforms Power Mist into a statement accessory. When a product looks and feels good, it naturally becomes part of your lifestyle.

With sustainability top of mind for many consumers, how does Touchland incorporate eco-conscious practices into its products and packaging?

Sustainability is a priority for us. Our formulas are vegan and cruelty-free, and while our products aren’t refillable to prevent cross-contamination, we partner with Plastic Credit Exchange to offset plastic. We’re constantly refining our supply chain and packaging to reduce waste because we believe innovation and sustainability should go hand in hand.

The brand has gained major traction on social media, especially with Gen Z. What do you think has contributed to Touchland’s viral success, and how do you engage with your audience?

We’ve built Touchland around authenticity, innovation, and community. Gen Z connects with brands that are not just functional but also aspirational and shareable. Our sleek design, fun fragrances, and skin-loving formulas naturally drive word-of-mouth. We also prioritize listening—our audience’s feedback helps shape how we evolve.

What challenges did you face in redefining a category that people once saw as purely functional, and how did you turn hand sanitizer into a beauty accessory?

The biggest challenge was shifting perception. Hand sanitizer was seen as a clinical, purely functional product. We had to show people that Touchland was different—not just about hygiene, but about skincare, design, and sensory experience. By bringing beauty and self-care elements into the category, we turned hand hygiene into something people genuinely love using.

What’s next for Touchland? Are there any exciting new products, scents, or innovations on the horizon that we can look forward to?
