Westmount Florist has been a staple in Montreal for decades. What makes it so special?

Brent: There are two things that truly set us apart. First, on a local level, we are deeply intertwined with the Montreal community. We have two locations – one in Westmount and another in Pointe-Claire. Many of our clients are second- and third-generation. We’ve had the privilege of being part of their major milestones—celebrating, mourning, and sharing in life’s most significant moments. 

On a global scale, we offer a flower buying experience that’s second to none. While most online florists leave you feeling like a number, our website invites you into a warm, welcoming journey—from discovering and exploring to selecting and paying. It’s a seamless experience that captures the beauty and artistry of what we do. 

And of course, our designs blend classic European florals with a modern twist. We always infuse a fresh perspective, making sure each piece feels both current and timeless. Our creations speak to the moment in ways that mass-market florists simply can’t match.

Westmount Florist is renowned for its legendary wedding designs. What makes your approach so unique?

Brent: For us, it’s never just about the flowers. It’s about creating an experience that mirrors the couple’s personality and style. We see each wedding as a blank canvas, an opportunity to tell a love story through carefully chosen blooms, colours, and textures. From intimate elopements to grand celebrations, we tailor every detail to evoke the perfect mood—whether it’s romantic, whimsical, or elegantly understated.

Westmount Florist is also famous for only offering the freshest, highest-quality flowers in Montreal. Why does that matter when sending an arrangement?

Brent: Fresh, high-quality flowers don’t just look better—they last longer, smell richer, and make a stronger impression. When you’re sending flowers, you want them to arrive vibrant, full of life, and to stay that way for days. A bouquet that fades too quickly loses its impact, but when blooms are at their peak freshness, they retain their beauty and meaning.

Unlike many florists who sit on aging inventory, our high turnover ensures a steady flow of peak-freshness blooms. We never push past-prime flowers—anything that doesn’t meet our standards is donated to La Rue des Femmes, a Montreal-based non-profit organization that provides shelter, support, and rehabilitation services for women experiencing homelessness, trauma, and social exclusion.

What’s your approach when creating arrangements for a big event?

Brent: It always starts with understanding the customer’s vision. We don’t just throw flowers together; we curate an experience that complements the event’s atmosphere. 

While we specialize in timeless European designs, we’re not afraid to mix unexpected colours or unconventional textures to reflect the customer’s personal preferences. Our goal is always to create that “wow” factor.

What’s next for Westmount Florist?

Brent: We’re currently in the final stages of a major rebranding. Our new website is live and our Westmount store interior has been transformed. Next is a stunning new look for the exterior that will mirror the elevated experience inside. We’re also expanding partnerships with local suppliers to reduce the carbon footprint of our flowers—a passion we share with many of our customers.

We’re also adding more lifestyle photos to our website and social media platforms to give customers a better idea of how our flowers can fit into their lives and spaces.

What do you love most about being a florist?

Brent: The joy of creating something beautiful for life’s most meaningful moments. Whether it’s a wedding, an apology, or a simple thank-you, flowers have a way of expressing emotions words sometimes can’t. It’s incredibly rewarding to be part of those moments.

But beyond that, it’s the art of floristry itself. We’ve spent years perfecting our craft, ensuring that every bouquet reflects not just beauty but also care and intention. Whether someone walks into our store or orders online, we want them to feel the same warmth, charm, and delight. Every arrangement we create is more than just flowers—it’s an experience, a memory, a connection. And that’s what makes this work so special.
