Power Packed: All The Electronics & Chargers You Should Pack For A Work Trip

April 23, 2025

Whether you’re heading off on a quick business trip or blending work and leisure on a longer getaway, staying connected (and powered up) is non-negotiable. Between virtual meetings, emails on the go, and that one app that somehow drains 30% of your battery—tech is essential. Here’s your don’t-forget-a-thing checklist for all the electronics and chargers you might need when working remotely or on a working vacation.

Work Essentials

  • Laptop + Charger
Obvious, but double-check you’ve packed both. Bonus: a lightweight sleeve for protection in transit.
  • Phone + Charger
Preferably with a long cord for hard-to-reach outlets in hotel rooms.
  • Tablet or iPad + Charger
Handy for reading, note-taking, or presentations.
  • Portable External Hard Drive or USB Stick
For backups, client files, or presentations on the fly.
  • Noise-Cancelling Headphones or Earbuds
A must for flights and Zoom meetings alike. Don’t forget the case and charger.

Power + Charging Gear

  • Multi-Port USB Charger or Charging Hub
One wall outlet, multiple devices—yes, please.
  • International Adapter (if abroad)
Especially useful if your destination has different voltage or outlet types.
  • Power Bank/Portable Charger
For top-ups during long days of sightseeing between work sessions.
  • Laptop Power Bank
If you’ll be without a plug for long stretches (airport lounges, trains, etc.).
  • Charging Cables (x2 each if possible)
Pack extras for phone, tablet, laptop, smartwatch—especially if you’re prone to misplacing them.

Connectivity Tools

  • Mobile Hotspot Device or
  • SIM Card / eSIM with data if traveling internationally
Never rely entirely on hotel or café Wi-Fi.
  • Ethernet Adapter (if you’re heading somewhere old school)
  • Privacy Screen
For working on sensitive files while in public or on planes.

Nice-to-Have Extras

  • Webcam Light Ring
Helps with lighting on Zoom calls from dim hotel rooms.
  • Bluetooth Mouse & Keyboard
For a more ergonomic setup when using a tablet or cramped laptop desk.
  • Mini Extension Cord or Power Strip
Because hotel outlets are never where you need them.
  • Apple AirTag or Smart Tag
For tracking your work bag, laptop case, or tech pouch.

How to Pack It All

  • Use a dedicated tech organizer pouch to keep cords from tangling and devices scratch-free.
  • Wrap cables with velcro ties or pack silicone cord organizers for easy access.
  • If flying, keep essentials like chargers, headphones, and your laptop in your carry-on, not your checked bag.

Pro Tip: Before you leave, fully charge everything, download key files offline, and test your chargers. That 1% battery warning in the middle of a client call? Avoid it at all costs.
