On May 20, food and wine lovers are invited to gather under the stars—on the heated patio of Vancouver’s beloved Vij’s—for a one-night-only Winemaker’s Dinner that promises to be as soulful as it is delicious. This intimate event brings together two trailblazing South Asian talents: celebrated chef Vikram Vij and Canada’s first and only South Asian female winemaker, Manpreet Dhaliwal of Kismet Estate Winery.

With just 40 seats available, the evening will offer guests a rare chance to experience the synergy of bold Indian flavours and thoughtfully paired Okanagan wines, all while hearing the personal stories behind them. It’s not just a meal—it’s a celebration of heritage, innovation, and resilience.
The evening begins with a welcome reception at 6:00 PM featuring Kismet’s sparkling Sitara and Vikram’s legendary masala spring rolls. From there, guests will enjoy a five-course feast that pushes boundaries while paying homage to tradition. Highlights include cauliflower pakoras in a mustard seed and yogurt curry, albacore tuna with beet salad, chicken schnitzel with butter chicken sauce, and a decadent alpaca biryani. Dessert? A playful banana bread paired with tutti frutti ice cream. Each dish is carefully matched with one of Kismet’s estate-grown wines, showcasing the terroir of BC’s wine country with every sip.
Throughout the evening, both Vikram and Manpreet will share candid reflections on their journeys—from the Dhaliwal family’s beginnings as grape growers in Oliver, BC, to Vikram’s transformation of the Canadian dining scene with his distinctive take on Indian cuisine. A portion of the proceeds will support Chef’s Table BC, which funds culinary mentorship and education in the province.
The event also marks the debut of several new Kismet releases, including the bright Phulkari Rosé, bold Mantra blend, and rich Moksha, a spice-layered red made from a masterful blend of Malbec, Mourvèdre, Syrah, Grenache, and Petit Verdot.
Whether you’re a longtime fan of Vij’s or a curious oenophile, this evening promises to be a feast for the senses—and the soul.
