Mission Hill’s The Terrace Reopens With A Fresh Take On Estate-To-Table Dining

May 8, 2025

There’s dining with a view—and then there’s dining at The Terrace. As one of Canada’s most celebrated culinary destinations, the open-air restaurant at Mission Hill Family Estate officially reopens for the season on May 9, inviting guests to experience the very best of the Okanagan with every bite and sip.

Set against a jaw-dropping backdrop of vineyards, orchards, mountains and shimmering lake views, The Terrace has long been a must-visit for wine lovers and foodies alike. This season, Executive Chef Patrick Gayler and his team are taking things even further, blending sustainability, creativity and a deep sense of place into every course.

What’s new? For starters, the estate’s botanical program has blossomed—literally. The kitchen is now drawing from an expanded lineup of estate-grown herbs and edible flowers like wild rose, pineapple weed, chamomile, lemon verbena, and sweet cicely. This, paired with house-cured charcuterie—think ash-coated speck, guanciale and double-smoked bacon seasoned with foraged Douglas Fir tips—sets a new bar for hyper-local luxury.

“We’re leaning into what’s flourishing around us,” says Gayler. “The Okanagan has such a vibrant food culture, and our goal is to bring that story to the table—fresh, seasonal, and beautifully paired with our wines.”

And speaking of stories, there’s a new one being told through Farmstead, Mission Hill’s just-launched line of small-batch pantry staples made entirely from estate-grown and local ingredients. With offerings like Estate Golden Honey, Pink Lady Apple Chutney, and Okanagan Quince Vinegar, the collection captures the essence of the valley in each jar—and yes, you can take it home (available exclusively at the winery’s boutique).

Dining formats have also evolved for the 2024 season. Guests can choose between a three-course menu with wine pairings ($99 per person) or go all-in with the five-course Chef’s Tasting Menu, complete with wine pairings for every dish ($195). Lunchtime diners can indulge in a two-course tasting menu ($70) with optional enhancements for those who prefer to linger in the sun a little longer.

The Details

Starting May 9, The Terrace will be open Thursday through Monday for lunch and dinner. By June 1, dinner service extends seven days a week, with full daily lunch and dinner service beginning June 23. Reservations are strongly encouraged via OpenTable—though if you’re lucky, a same-day booking might just be available.

More than just a meal, a visit to The Terrace is a full-sensory love letter to the Okanagan Valley. And with every plate and pour, Mission Hill continues to set the standard for estate-to-table elegance in Canada’s most iconic wine country. —Noa Nichol
