Em & May
What began with a single red bikini and some scraps of spandex turned into Montreal-based Em & May, a brand focused on celebrating every body. Founder Emilie’s made-to-order approach allows for inclusive sizing and custom fits, with a playful twist. Case in point: the Ivie Bikini Bottom ($82), featuring mid coverage, a ruffled skirt overlay and a charming bow detail.
Londre
Dreamt up by Ainsley Rose and Hannah Todd during a beach shoot in Mexico, Londre set out to create high-quality swimwear with as little environmental impact as possible. To date, the brand has recycled over one million plastic bottles into sleek, sustainable suits. Their Minimalist One-Piece ($179) is a consistent bestseller, loved for its low-scoop neckline, cheeky cut and effortless, wear-anywhere appeal.
Nettle’s Tale
Since its 2014 launch via crowdfunding, Vancouver’s Nettle’s Tale has been a champion of body diversity and ethical production. Today, its line spans swimwear and apparel, with each piece modelled on real people and made locally. Their collaboration with Marielle Elizabeth brings bold energy to a classic one-piece ($159), complete with a zip-front, low scoop back and cheeky coverage.
Fenntessa
Vancouver-based Fenntessa started as a sister-led project rooted in confidence and community. Now run by co-founder Cami, the brand continues to empower through inclusive cuts and sustainable production in small batches out of Colombia. The Cusco bikini top ($69) offers a fresh take on the string top, with thicker straps for added support and multiple ways to tie.
OCIN
OCIN blends ocean-minded values with modern design, creating swimwear that’s as functional as it is beautiful. Founded by Courtney, a former competitive swimmer, the brand promotes conscious living through minimal design and recycled materials. The Speed Back One-Piece ($250) is a standout for its sporty silhouette, soft regenerated nylon and open-back detail that’s just as at home in the waves as it is under a linen shirt.
