Wedding favours are certainly not a new concept. What’s fresh is totally flipping the script on this long-standing tradition and curating not just a singular gift, but pop-up shop of branded wedding merch incorporated into your set up for guests to shop and take home with them. Gifting wedding guests with personalized wedding swag is not just 2025’s coolest wedding trends but one you will have a ton of fun getting creative with.
“Weddings aren’t about more stuff, they are about better experiences,” says Alexandra Clement McNamara, creative director, and founder of Clement & Co. Events. “It’s interesting to see how traditional wedding favours have faded, while thoughtful, branded touches are taking centre stage. Having things set up in a thoughtfully designed pop-up space for guests to shop their gifts brings a unique layer of details and personalization that truly sets a celebration a part.”
According to Clement McNamara, instead of having trinkets at every guest’s place setting to take home, couples are investing in elements that are both beautiful and useful, like cocktail napkins, branded fans for outdoor ceremonies, custom labels, and curated welcome bags (we love the idea of cutie personalized items like baseball hats and flip flops) for weekend celebrations.
“Personally, I loved braded matches,” Clement McNamara shares. “I recently visited Ralph’s in Paris—an incredible example of beautifully executed branding—and I took a matchbook home. Now it sits in a little bowl and every time I see it, I’m instantly reminded of that special trip with my best friend. That’s the power of thoughtful design—it becomes part of the memory. It’s the same with weddings. Small intentional moments elevate the experience and are what set modern weddings apart and creating lasting impressions that guests actually take home.”
As what for guests will think of your wedding merch, Clement McNamara says in her event planning experience, they adore the inclusion of such hyper-personal touches. “People genuinely appreciate the thoughtfulness behind these details,” she says. “There’s something incredibly special about seeing their reactions—surprised smiles, emotional pauses, and heartfelt gratitude. For couples, there is nothing more rewarding than watching their unique ideas come to life and witnessing the joy and appreciation in their guests’ faces.”
Branded wedding swag is just one more layer in the experience of making modern weddings the ultimate bespoke event. Clement McNamara says this trend started a few years back with couples having a mindset shift on how they approached wedding planning.
“Personalized branding is now the top consideration when it comes to a wedding aesthetic,” Clement McNamara explains. “This concept goes far beyond colour palettes and floral choices. Today’s couples are working closely with their stationary designers or wedding planners to create custom logos or monograms that represent their unique love story. These bespoke emblems then become a design thread that weaves throughout the entire wedding experience from the invitation to the day-of-details inspiring everything from signature cocktails to décor installations, and small intimate touches and gifting.”
Is the branded wedding trend all for social though? While yes, it certainly makes for killer content, Clement McNamara stresses this should never be your M.O. “It should never be just about the photo moment. We hope couples include branded wedding experiences not just for the look, but for the feel. For the joy, connection and delight they bring to their guests.” —Alison McGill
