When Kim Kardashian flew to South Korea in search of skincare secrets, she put the global spotlight on the innovation behind K-beauty. Now, that same transformative approach has arrived in Toronto. 30 Hazelton, INK Entertainment’s brand-new luxury Med Spa in the heart of Yorkville, offers exclusive Korean skincare practices alongside cutting-edge laser technology you won’t find anywhere else. We sat down with Erica Fung, 30 Hazelton’s Managing Director, to learn how she’s bringing the coveted “glass skin” glow straight from Seoul to Toronto. —Noa Nichol
Korean technology has become a global gold standard, but few Canadians have experienced it at this level of innovation. What makes 30 Hazelton’s approach truly different from other med spas in Canada?
30 HAZELTON is designed as a destination for beauty, self-care, and restoration. Rooted in INK Entertainment’s signature hospitality DNA, the space offers a welcoming and elevated atmosphere that inspires both relaxation and rejuvenation. By blending INK’s hospitality expertise with the most advanced Korean beauty practices, techniques, and technologies, 30 HAZELTON introduces treatments exclusive to Yorkville. As the only med spa in Yorkville to bring some of South Korea’s most cutting-edge innovations directly to Toronto, our philosophy is centered on stacking and customizing treatments to deliver long-term, transformative results.
For example, the Ultraformer MPT, which is exclusive to 30 HAZELTON, is customizable for client treatment plans as 30 HAZELTON has multiple hand pieces used to target different layers of skin tissue. This, in turn, offers the most advanced technology in skin rejuvenation. We’re really excited to introduce Canadians to this state-of-the-art technology.
You’ve spent some time in South Korea exploring treatments firsthand. Can you share a personal experience or discovery there that inspired how you’re shaping 30 Hazelton?
What really stood out to me during my time in South Korea was the philosophy of stacking and customizing multiple treatments per session. It’s not about a one-size-fits-all solution, it’s about building a regimen that works uniquely for each person, step by step. I experienced firsthand how transformative this approach can be, not just in the results, but in the care and attention behind it. That philosophy inspired the foundation of 30 HAZELTON. Every customized treatment we offer is designed to be layered and tailored, so guests don’t just see quick results, but long-term, lasting transformation to focus on skin longevity.
The term “glass skin” has gone viral worldwide. How does 30 Hazelton interpret this ideal, and what treatments actually make it achievable?
‘Glass skin’ is that clear, luminous, almost translucent look that has become a global beauty benchmark and has everyone talking. At 30 HAZELTON, we think of it not as a trend, but as a reflection of deeply nourished, cared-for skin. Achieving glass skin really comes down to proper skincare and layering and customizing therapies to build long-term skin resilience. For example, combining advanced hydration treatments, collagen-stimulating technologies, and gentle resurfacing, all tailored to each guest. Our goal is to make the ‘glass skin’ ideal less about perfection, and more about achieving your healthiest, most radiant skin possible.
Many Korean technology practices focus on prevention and long-term results, rather than quick fixes. How are you educating Toronto clients to embrace this philosophy?
This is a great question. Each client receives an on-site skin analysis, which first helps us determine what their skincare concerns really are. Education is one of the most important first steps. It’s important to teach clients and help them to understand how to properly maintain the treatments they receive. I also like to remind clients that skincare can be rapidly improved by nourishing the body with healthy foods and of course, we cannot overlook the importance of sunscreen for protecting the skin and prolonging the effectiveness of each treatment. Think of your skin journey like going to the gym: professional treatments and facials are like your workouts and they push your skin to improve. But just like you won’t see lasting results without eating healthy, you won’t get the full benefit of treatments without proper skincare. Skincare is the daily nutrition your skin needs to thrive.
You’re introducing exclusive laser technology and techniques exclusive to Yorkville. Can you give us a sneak peek into one or two that you’re most excited about?
Yes! We’re so excited to introduce technologies that are exclusive to the Yorkville area. The EVERESSE, for example, is a skin plumping and lifting device that uses thermal RF technology to deliver targeted energy deep within the skin to stimulate collagen production and restore elasticity. With no pain or downtime, the EVERESSE is the pinnacle of innovation through non-invasive rejuvenation, lifting, volumizing, and plumping. When the EVERESSE treatment is done in tandem with the aforementioned Ultraformer MPT, the beneficiary is seen as having “The Ultimate Face Lift.”
From multi-step routines to cutting-edge devices, K-beauty can feel overwhelming to newcomers. What advice do you give clients who are curious but don’t know where to start?
With all the cutting-edge technology and treatment options available, we understand it can feel overwhelming and we don’t expect our clients to come in fully educated on everything. That’s why we offer personalized 1:1 consultations where we take the time to truly listen to their concerns. Using our advanced skin analysis device, we can visually show the client what’s happening beneath the surface and guide them through the best steps to achieve their skin goals with clarity and confidence.
In South Korea, skincare is seen as an essential form of self-care and even cultural pride. How do you hope to bring that mindset into the Canadian wellness space?
In South Korea, skincare is deeply embedded into daily life, it’s not seen as much of a luxury, but more of a form of self-care and even a source of cultural pride. That mindset is something we want to bring into the Canadian wellness space, where treatments are often seen as an occasional splurge rather than an essential investment in yourself. The main aim is to reframe skincare as part of an overall lifestyle of wellness and longevity. It’s about consistency, prevention, and pride in looking and feeling your best every day. By creating a space that blends advanced technology with approachable luxury, we hope to shift the perspective so that Canadians embrace skincare as an empowering, everyday ritual, just as it is in Korea.
Celebrity influence—like Kim Kardashian’s recent trip—keeps shining a spotlight on Korean beauty. How do you see pop culture shaping the demand for advanced treatments in Toronto?
Celebrity influencers have played a huge part in opening up the beauty conversation. When someone like Kim Kardashian openly shares moments such as applying numbing cream before a treatment, it normalizes the reality of more advanced or invasive services. This level of transparency demystifies the process and makes audiences more curious about what’s available to them. In fact, I visited the same clinic Kim went to during her recent trip to Korea to do my own research 2 years ago. It was important for me to experience firsthand how these treatments are delivered at the highest standard. As a result, we expect this openness to not only increase demand but also shape the kinds of treatments clients seek, with a stronger focus on targeting specific areas of concern rather than relying solely on surface-level solutions.
Luxury is at the heart of 30 Hazelton. How are you balancing the indulgent spa experience with the highly clinical, results-driven side of Korean technology?
We’re redefining what it means to experience results-driven skincare in a luxury setting. While the advanced, medical-grade technologies we use are typically found in doctors’ offices or clinical environments, our approach blends these high-performance treatments with the comfort, elegance, and personalized care of a spa. The result is a seamless balance where clients can enjoy a relaxing, indulgent experience while achieving visible, transformative results. Most of our devices feature the newest innovations technology, designed to deliver results with little to no discomfort which is a significant upgrade from more traditional, often painful methods.
Looking ahead, what innovations from South Korea do you predict will be the next big wave in North America’s beauty and med spa industry and how is 30 Hazelton preparing to lead that movement?
In South Korea, there’s a growing emphasis on achieving plump, soft, and youthful skin by focusing on treatments that target pigmentation, stimulate collagen, and enhance overall skin health rather than relying on synthetic volumizing methods. Given the global influence of Korean beauty, we anticipate this philosophy will increasingly shape consumer expectations in North America. At 30 HAZELTON, we’re preparing for this shift by offering treatments that support long-term skin vitality and collagen regeneration, using advanced technologies that deliver subtle yet transformative results. Our goal is to lead this next wave of innovation in Toronto, allowing our clients to embrace the same radiant, youthful standard that is redefining beauty abroad.
