This fall, North Vancouver’s The Woods Spirit Co. is raising a final glass to one of its most beloved creations: the award-winning Barrel-Aged Nocino. Crafted with hand-harvested green walnuts from the Okanagan, the liqueur has earned national acclaim for its spiced-citrus complexity—including Best Liqueur in Canada at the 2023 Canadian Artisan Spirits Competition. But due to climate challenges and the loss of fruiting walnut trees, the Vintage 2025 release (October 1) will be the last.
“Making Nocino has always been one of our most meaningful traditions,” says owner Celia Chiang. “Saying goodbye is bittersweet, but it reminds us to adapt and savour each moment as it comes.”
The Woods isn’t slowing down, though. Also debuting October 1: the Barrel-Aged Amaro Vintage 2025, a Gold-winning digestivo layered with vanilla, spiced citrus, and woody bitters; and the indulgent Crema Nocciola Hazelnut Cream Liqueur, crafted with Abbotsford hazelnuts, Moja Coffee, and Canadian oat milk.
