Welcome to The Mom Flow, where I share things that are on my mind in the hopes of helping you connect to your Mom Flow. Thanks for being here! —Erin Sousa
I tried my hardest to get this out on time (Friday mornings by 8am PST if you’re wondering), but I couldn’t swing it. We had our ery first parent/teacher interviews this this week (last night if you’re reading this when it’s posted), and of course, we loved it. I still can’t believe Lola is in kindy, and we have a wonderful school for her. The dream for me was to be a few blocks away so we could walk, and that’s what we’re so lucky to have. Anywayyyy, I digress. Let’s hop into the topic this week! (P.S: the pic above is from my little Whistler getaway with Lola… we had such a fun night at the hotel, and while it was a lot of work, mems were defo made and I hope she remembers it! Recapped it here.)
September always feels like the start of a new year, so why not share 4 things that has made my life just feel better in 2025? It’s not all about things to buy, either. While I like reading those kinds of posts too, something I try hard to shift away from is buy buy buy to feel good. These things bring me ease, calm and streamline my day to day in a way that elevates the everyday!
- Leaning in to uniforming
I finally decided to be ok with not just re-wearing outfits, but the idea of a uniform. It’s just not part of my DNA to be consumed with outfits and planning my lewks. I love when people put so much thought and enjoy doing this. I do not, and 2025 was the year I got ok with it. This means buying the same thing that makes me feel good in multiples or different colours. I remember Steve Jobs saying doing this allows him focus on other things (ok I don’t know the exact quote, lemme ask Chat…)
“Every day I get up to a closet hung with the very same shirt, and the very same slacks, and the very same shoes. Elegant, yes, but the very same. I do that so that I don’t have to think about that. And I choose not to think about that because I choose to think about much more important things.”
Ya, I feel this. But like ok, it’s not the exact same every day, but defo a few versions of similar outfits. Lately, and if you follow me on IG, you knowwwww, it’s this top and these pants. I bought it in three colours!
- Being more regular with my beauty appointments
It’s so easy for me to let things get out of hand before taking care of them. I’m talking about my grey roots. And lash lift. And facial. And mani/pedi. Yes, I love my beauty treatments and I always feel so much more “on” and like myself when I keep up with them. It just makes me feel so much better – love a one stop shop, and get so many of them at Dewy. Believe it or not, it’s actually more tricky to keep up on my hair even though hubs is a hair stylist. He has to do it on his days off and I don’t like to make him (he says it’s totally fine buuuut). I have an itch to do something new with my hair, so stay tuned.
- Re-watching shows I love
I was neverrrr a re-watcher but that is in the past. I love watching my fave reality shows from S1E1 bc it makes sure I always have something to watch. Plus, reality TV is so overproduced these days and nothing beats the early days of RHONY or Vanderpump. It might be bad to say out loud, but it relaxes me. Yes, the screaming and trauma dumping relaxes me. What does that say? Ok but in all seriousness, sometimes you just need a mindless watch, and actually it’s interesting to see the shows with more mature eyes and also with the knowledge of how everything ended up. Anyway, it’s not that deep, but it’s working for me.
- Nailing a two-minute makeup routine
I like to look put together but I don’t want to spend a ton of time doing it so I finallllly figured out this super easy routine that focuses on glowing skin, defined brows, some colour in my face and that’s pretty much it. I start with a skin hydrator/serum, skip any foundation, use concealer under my eyes, I use Elf Brow Lift to define my brows, then some complexion enhancer (it’s like a bronzer almost) and cream blush. Some lipgloss and done. I’ve linked everything here and it’s changed the game for me!
