The $7,000 Cocktail: Inside The Diamond Drip

What happens when a top Toronto jeweller and a buzzy steakhouse design a cocktail with a hidden two-carat bracelet inside? Jared Brown’s latest collaboration with Animl Steakhouse—The Diamond Drip—pairs GRAN PATRÓN Burdeos, cocoa and smoked cedar with an 18k yellow-gold bracelet handmade in Jared’s Toronto studio. It’s decadence with a purpose: a portion of each $7,000 serve benefits the Prince Hall Family and SickKids Foundation. Join us for a quick Q&A with Jared to unpack the craftsmanship, the tasting notes, and why he wanted to turn a night out into a moment that gives back. —Noa Nichol

What was the spark behind The Diamond Drip — how did a cocktail and jewellery collaboration with Animl Steakhouse first come together, and what story did you want the bracelet to tell?

The spark came from a shared love for bold experiences that leave a lasting impression. Animl Steakhouse is known for its sense of drama and luxury, and that aligned perfectly with the Jared Brown brand ethos.

The idea of a handcrafted cocktail accompanying a diamond bracelet just felt like the perfect combination of indulgence and surprise. The bracelet itself tells a story of balance, sculptural but fluid, refined but bold. It’s meant to feel personal, like a modern heirloom that carries the memory of the moment it was discovered.

Walk us through the design process for the hidden diamond bracelet: how did you translate the drink’s flavour profile (GRAN PATRÓN Burdeos, cocoa, smoked cedar) into metal and stone, and what materials or motifs were non-negotiable?

The warmth of the GRAN PATRÓN Burdeos, with its hints of cocoa and smoked cedar, inspired the use of 18k yellow gold, which carries that same richness and depth.

We wanted something sculptural, elegant and slightly mysterious, similar to the flavour of the cocktail itself. Two carats of diamonds were a non-negotiable, the sparkle had to match the wow-factor of the reveal.

The piece is both sculptural and wearable — what technical challenges did you face crafting a two-carat, 18k yellow-gold bracelet meant to be revealed inside a cocktail experience, and how did you solve them?

The biggest challenge was creating a piece that could deliver the drama of a showpiece, but still feel wearable and timeless.

We designed a silhouette that looks light and fluid, made for everyday wear. Each bracelet is finished and tested in-studio to ensure it holds its form, wears comfortably, and can be presented in the drink without compromising its integrity.

This project pairs extreme luxury with philanthropy. Why was supporting Prince Hall Family and SickKids Foundation important to you, and how do you hope this model of giving through high-end collaborations influences the industry?

At its heart, this collaboration was about creating something special, luxurious and unexpected, but also wanted to give something back. Supporting SickKids Foundation and Prince Hall Family felt like a natural extension of the values both brands share. These organizations do incredible work, and we saw an opportunity to make luxury mean more.

The Diamond Drip is available for a limited run through New Year’s Eve — what do you want guests to feel when the bracelet is revealed, and do you see more hospitality-jewellery crossovers like this in your future work?

Whether it’s part of an anniversary, a special moment or just a spontaneous splurge, we want the reveal to feel luxurious and electric.

Yes, we’re already thinking about how fine jewellery can intersect with other unexpected worlds. For us, it’s about pushing the boundaries of what a luxury experience can be, and who gets to feel part of it.
