Hair High Fashion: Lisa Rinna Debuts A Couture Gown Made Of Real Hair

March 17, 2026

Celebrities

Move over silk and sequins—television icon Lisa Rinna just redefined “hair goals” at Elton John’s Oscars Party. In a show-stopping collaboration between TRESemmé and fashion designer Christian Cowan, Rinna debuted the A-List Hair Couture Dress, a custom gown constructed entirely from approximately 11 pounds of real hair.

“The hair is not the finishing touch of this look—it is the look,” says Cowan. “The concept was simple but powerful; if the TRESemmé A-List Collection can deliver couture-level results on hair, it can deliver couture-level results on a couture gown made from hair”.

The Making of a Masterpiece

This wasn’t just a quick style; it was an architectural feat. A dedicated team of 16 people spent 152 hours meticulously weaving and sculpting every strand. The process involved:

  • Preparation: Strands were treated with A-List Bonding Oil for flexibility and strength.
  • The Bodice: Cowan used A-List Smoothing Cream to create a sleek, glass-like finish that perfectly reflected the camera flashes on the carpet.
  • The Train: To give the gown cinematic movement, A-List Dry Texturizing Spray was used to add airy volume to the train.
  • The Final Polish: A-List Lacquer Shine Spray provided the high-gloss, radiant finish, while A-List Signature Hair Fragrance (featuring notes of golden vanilla and sandalwood) ensured the moment was truly unforgettable.

Get the Look: Lisa’s “Spiky Shag”

To complement the drama of the dress, celebrity stylist Justine Marjan gave Rinna a high-volume version of her iconic “Spiky Shag”.

  • Volume: Marjan blow-dried the mohawk section upward and back away from the face for maximum lift.
  • Texture: After back-brushing the roots with A-List Dry Texturizing Spray, she used A-List Workable Hairspray and her fingertips to piece out the ends for that signature edgy texture.
  • Shine: A final mist of A-List Lacquer Shine Spray tied the whole look together.

While you might not be wearing a gown made of hair anytime soon, the partnership proves that red-carpet glamour is accessible to everyone. Whether you’re backstage at New York Fashion Week or styling at home, the right products make the iconic moment possible. —Noa Nichol
