Get ready to party like it’s 1986! British Columbia’s largest shopping centre is officially hitting the big 4-0, and Metropolis at Metrotown is pulling out all the stops to celebrate. From April 13 to June 14, the iconic space is transforming into a nostalgic wonderland, inviting the community to take a walk down memory lane while creating a fresh batch of memories.
Expect a total takeover of the Grand Court and beyond, featuring interactive art installations like a mind-bending Infinity Room, a “LOVE” sign installation, and a message wall where you can leave your own mark on the Met’s history. There are even throwback displays—including jungle scenes inspired by the legendary Rainforest Cafe—to satisfy all your vintage cravings.
The Anniversary Event Lineup
The festivities are packed with two months of non-stop action:
- April 13 Launch: Kick things off with a “Spend $200, Get $20” reward (while supplies last), with $5 from every redemption going to Burnaby Neighbourhood House’s Food Hubs.
- Dance Parties: Dust off your moves for a DJ Dance Party on April 25 and a grand Finale Dance Party on June 14.
- Spring Florals: Visit the flower market hosted by Manites Flowers from May 1–10.
