When it comes to weddings this year, lace is everywhere. Brides and grooms are embracing the traditional wedding fabric choosing maximalist lace dresses, romantic mantilla veils, lace gloves, hair bows, bowties and pocket squares. And lace is not just for wedding fashion; it’s being integrated in to all aspects of a weddings trimming everything from invitations to tablescapes.
The trend experts at Pinterest have even chosen the iconic bridal fabric as the inspiration for one of its Pinterest Predicts 2026 highlights, “Laced Up,” sharing that Gen Z and Millennials are driving this trend. But why is lace having a moment, particularly in the wedding space? Yuliia Lobachova, founder and creative director of luxury bridal brand Ricca Sposa, attributes its currently popularity to the timelessness and heirloom vibe of the fabric, and the fact that lace resonates with so many of us on a deeply emotional level.
“In 2026 lace feels especially relevant because brides are seeking a balance between tradition and individuality,” Lobachova says. “It shapes the mood of a gown, from structured, modern patterns that convey strength, to soft, romantic motifs that evoke femininity. Lace brings emotion and storytelling to a dress while offering endless possibilities for creative reinterpretation.”

How is lace being used today to create fresh bridal vibes?
“Lace is being explored in highly expressive and innovative ways. Designers are layering it with different textures, combining it with sheer elements, or placing it strategically to enhance the silhouette. Additionally, lace accessories such as headpieces, gloves, and veils have become increasingly popular, adding dimension and personality to the overall bridal look.”
What do love about working with lace in bridal wear and the mood it creates?
“Lace has a unique ability to define the character of a gown. Each pattern brings its own personality—from bold and structured designs that convey confidence, to delicate, intricate motifs that add elegance and sophistication. We love how lace allows us to shape the dress’s identity while leaving room for modern interpretation.”
Layered lace looks are beautiful, but they can be heavy and start to look too theatrical—what are your styling tips?
“Balance is key. When working with layered lace, we recommend keeping the silhouette clean and the accessories minimal. Let the texture speak for itself. It’s also important to focus on fit and proportion. When everything is tailored perfectly, even bold lace looks refined and elegant rather than overwhelming.”
What’s your favourite lace gown design of the moment?
“The Lorenessa from one of our latest collections is a romantic princess gown crafted entirely from delicate Chantilly lace. It features a graceful row of covered buttons down the center front, adding a refined and elegant touch. The gown comes with a removable bolero with a high neckline and long sleeves, providing timeless sophistication while allowing the bride to adapt her look throughout the day. This design is ideal for the modern bride because it combines classic elegance with versatility. Being fully made of luxurious Chantilly lace, it exudes artistry and character, while the detachable bolero allows the bride to effortlessly switch between a more formal, covered look and a lighter, romantic style.”
