This Mother’s Day, Vancouver-based Attitude of Soup Ltd. is turning comfort food into something even more meaningful. Through its “Share a Mother’s Warmth” initiative, the brand is inviting the community to send messages of encouragement to families in care—while donating proceeds to BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. Rooted in the simple but powerful idea of care, connection, and nourishment, it’s a reminder that sometimes the smallest gestures—like a warm bowl of soup—can carry the biggest impact. —Noa Nichol

What inspired this idea?

“Share a Mother’s Warmth” came from a very simple feeling — that warmth is often expressed through small, everyday gestures. Growing up, a warm bowl of soup was one of the most natural ways care was shown. It was comforting, familiar, and often a quiet way of saying, “I’m here for you.” That made us think: what if that same sense of warmth and care could be shared beyond our own homes? Mother’s Day reminds us of the comfort a mother brings, and we wanted to create a way for our community to pass a little of that warmth on to children and families who may need it most.

How do you want this to resonate beyond celebration?

Mother’s Day can be joyful, but it can also be emotional for many — especially for families going through difficult times. We didn’t want this to be only about celebration, but also about connection. Even a small message can remind someone they’re not alone. Our hope is that people see this as a gentle way to express care — whether it’s for their own loved ones or for someone they may never meet.

What impact do you hope the messages will have?

We believe words carry more weight than we often realize. A short message of encouragement may seem small, but for a child or family going through a challenging time, it can offer a moment of comfort, reassurance, or even strength. We hope each message feels like a quiet reminder: someone is thinking of you.

Why partner with BC Children’s Hospital Foundation?

As a Vancouver-based business, it felt important for us to support families within our own community.
BC Children’s Hospital Foundation does incredible work supporting children and their families during some of their most difficult moments. Being able to contribute, even in a small way, makes this initiative more meaningful for us.

How does your brand connect to this idea?

Soup has always been closely tied to care, comfort, and nurturing — especially in the culture we grew up in, where a warm bowl of soup is one of the most natural ways to show someone you care.
At Yum Tong C Yuen, we try to make that feeling accessible in a simple way — through products that are easy to prepare, but still carry that sense of home. This campaign is an extension of that belief — that even a small gesture of warmth can be deeply meaningful.

How can people participate?

There are two simple ways to take part:

  • Send a short message of encouragement through our campaign page — it only takes a moment
  • Or support the initiative through a soup purchase — we’ll donate $1 from every soup pack sold during the campaign

Both are small gestures, but together they can help share a little extra warmth this Mother’s Day.
