This summer, BC Association of Farmers’ Markets is reminding us that one of the best ways to experience the world might actually be … a local farmers’ market.
The organization has officially launched its new Taste the World with BC Farmers’ Markets campaign, celebrating the return of more than 145 farmers’ markets across the province—and highlighting the incredible cultural diversity showing up on local tables this season.
Translation: your weekend market run just got a whole lot more delicious.
From handmade Japanese dumplings and Punjabi curries to Indigenous bannock and Latin American street food, Metro Vancouver’s farmers’ markets are increasingly becoming global food hubs built entirely around local BC ingredients. And with international tourism expected to surge ahead of the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026, the campaign positions BC markets as an ideal way for visitors to experience the city beyond the usual tourist stops.
Honestly, it’s giving edible world tour.
But it’s not just about what’s on the plate. Alongside fresh produce, baked goods, and globally inspired eats, BC farmers’ markets continue to evolve into vibrant community spaces filled with local makers, flowers, crafts, live music, small-batch pantry finds, and some of the best summer people-watching in the city.
In other words: come for the peaches, stay for the dumplings and handmade candles.
And if you’re planning a pre-game picnic, patio snack spread, or easy summer dinner, this season’s markets are also packed with fresh in-season produce and ready-to-eat meals that make supporting local feel especially fun right now.
Because nothing says Vancouver summer quite like eating something incredible while carrying an overpriced iced coffee and pretending you’re “just browsing.” —Noa Nichol
