If you didn’t score tickets to the biggest matches of the summer, don’t panic—one of Vancouver’s most exciting World Cup experiences might actually be happening just outside the stadium gates.

Located steps from BC Place in the heart of Vancouver’s Entertainment District, JW Marriott Parq Vancouver is transforming into the city’s ultimate soccer headquarters, serving up rooftop picnics, jersey giveaways, beer gardens and front-row views of all the action.

The luxury hotel is leaning fully into the Beautiful Game, creating elevated experiences for the wave of international football fans descending on the city. Translation? Think less crowded sports bar, more chic summer celebration with Champagne in hand.

Back for its fourth season, Le Picnic by Veuve Clicquot returns to the hotel’s rooftop JW Garden with a special Summer of Soccer twist. Overlooking BC Place and the festivities below, the lively patio pairs live music every Friday, Saturday and Sunday with seasonal dishes crafted from locally sourced ingredients—including honey harvested from the hotel’s own resident beehives. It’s the kind of place where a pre-match cocktail can effortlessly turn into an all-evening affair.

And if you happen to be staying overnight, the experience gets even better. Many guest rooms and suites offer views of BC Place, allowing guests to watch the crowds gather before kick-off from the comfort of their room. Whether you’re heading into the excitement or choosing to soak up the atmosphere from afar, Summer of Soccer menu features are also available through in-room dining.

Of course, game day itself is where the energy really ramps up. Take a stroll along the waterfront Seawall to Vancouver’s “Last Mile” activations before making your way to the match—or, if you don’t have tickets, settle in at Sportsbook Lounge, Vancouver’s only sportsbook, where every game will be shown on a massive 50-foot screen. Bonus: fans can score special Canada jersey giveaways during every Canada match.

The celebrations don’t stop when the final whistle blows, either. Parq Casino is extending the party with a dedicated beer garden activation, daily happy hour from 2 to 6 p.m. featuring $6 drinks throughout the tournament, live DJs spinning for three hours after every BC Place match and plenty of photo-worthy moments scattered throughout the property.

Because while the world’s eyes may be on the pitch this summer, some of Vancouver’s best memories will be made just beyond it. —Noa Nichol
