There are sound baths. There are rooftop pools. And then there’s floating in a heated rooftop pool at sunset while crystal bowl vibrations ripple across the water and the North Shore Mountains glow in the distance.
This summer, Fairmont Waterfront is taking wellness to new heights—and depths—with what is believed to be Vancouver’s first floating sound bath experience hosted at a luxury hotel.
Launching July 31, the downtown Vancouver property is expanding its beloved wellness programming with Sunset Float: An Immersive Sound Bath Experience, inviting both hotel guests and locals to trade the city’s relentless pace for an evening of stillness, sensation, and spectacular views.
The experience begins downstairs at ARC Restaurant + Bar, where guests will enjoy the hotel’s Province to Plate menu spotlighting seasonal ingredients sourced from across British Columbia. Then, as the sun begins its descent over Vancouver Harbour, participants ascend to Fairmont Waterfront’s rooftop pool to float gently on the water’s surface while immersed in the restorative frequencies of a guided sound bath. Set against sweeping views of the harbour and North Shore Mountains, it’s wellness with an unmistakably West Coast point of view.
“As luxury travellers increasingly seek experiences that go beyond the traditional spa treatment, we’re seeing a desire for wellness offerings that feel authentic to their destination,” says Randall Williams, General Manager of Fairmont Waterfront. “The introduction of Sunset Float marks an exciting new chapter for our wellness offerings, combining mindfulness, exceptional local cuisine and our iconic rooftop setting to create a one-of-a-kind experience.”
The floating sound bath joins a thoughtfully curated lineup of returning favourites inspired by Fairmont’s Wellness Without Walls philosophy.
Soothe & Savour combines guided yoga and sound healing with ARC Restaurant + Bar’s award-winning Bottomless Brunch—arguably one of the most civilized ways to spend a summer morning.
Adventure-seekers can once again sign up for Board & Brunch, led by Fairmont Waterfront’s own Chief Paddle Officer, Tobias Clare. The guided paddleboarding experience concludes, naturally, with Bottomless Brunch, proving that balance can sometimes mean equal parts movement and mimosas.
For those looking to weave wellness into everyday life, complimentary Poolside Yoga & Meditation sessions return on Friday mornings throughout June, July, and August. Framed by coastal views and the gentle energy of the city waking up below, the rooftop setting offers a grounding start to the day.
And as temperatures cool later in the year, the hotel’s cult-favourite Polar Plunge experience will return under the guidance of Chief Chill Experience Officer Jodi Francks. The invigorating Third Beach cold-water immersion is followed by tea, warm towels, a hot toddy, Bottomless Brunch, and access to the Health Club—because Vancouverites have mastered the art of rewarding discomfort.
Taken together, the experiences reflect a broader shift in luxury travel: one that prioritizes meaningful moments, a sense of place, and the understanding that wellness doesn’t look the same for everyone.
At Fairmont Waterfront, it might look like paddleboarding beneath the city skyline. It might mean yoga beside a rooftop pool. Or, this summer, it might mean surrendering to the sound of singing bowls while floating weightlessly beneath a painted Vancouver sunset.
Either way, consider it an invitation to slow down. And simply drift. —Noa Nichol
