If your idea of a perfect summer adventure involves oysters, clues, and a little friendly competition, Vancouver’s beloved Fanny Bay Oyster Bar & Shellfish Market has just the thing.
To celebrate its 10th anniversary, the iconic tide-to-table destination is launching a week-long citywide scavenger hunt from June 22 to 28, giving lucky participants the chance to win its legendary Salish Sea Platter—a West Coast feast featuring a dozen oysters, cold cracked crab, geoduck sashimi, kelp noodle salad, and smoked mussels.
Here’s how it works: each day at approximately 3 p.m., Fanny Bay will post a clue on Instagram (@fannybayoysters) leading followers to a hidden “Fanny Pack” somewhere in Vancouver. Inside? A coveted golden oyster shell, instructions to claim the prize, and the bonus of getting to keep the Fanny Pack itself. One pack will be hidden every day for seven days, creating seven opportunities to score one of the city’s most sought-after seafood spreads.
The anniversary celebration comes at a fitting moment for the restaurant, which has spent the past decade championing farm-direct, traceable seafood in the heart of Vancouver’s stadium district. Part of the Taylor Shellfish family and led by fifth-generation oyster farmer Malindi Taylor, Fanny Bay has become a go-to destination for oyster lovers, seafood enthusiasts, and anyone craving a true taste of the Pacific Northwest.
Adding to the festivities, the restaurant is also serving up FIFA-inspired food and drink specials and extended hours on game days throughout the celebration.
Consider it a treasure hunt with a deliciously Vancouver twist. —Noa Nichol
