There’s just something about the warmer weather that calls for a home refresh. Whether it be rearranging furniture, adding seasonal decor or swapping out pieces, it really can go a long way in the overall feel of the space.
Personally, ever since the days got longer, I find myself organizing, decluttering and wanting to change up things—maybe even a little too much. Speaking of just that, I recently tested out the new Cozey Ara Storage Bed, which as expected, drastically transformed my room; keep reading to find out how and why.
Unboxing and setup
Twelve boxes. I received twelve boxes in total, which included every single thing I would need to put together the bedframe. I’ll be honest it was overwhelming to say the least. I had always heard Cozey furniture was extremely easy to put together, so I wasn’t expecting so many boxes.
Thankfully my initial shock was quickly put to rest upon opening the boxes and realizing they were packed strategically to make assembly efficient and smooth. They were all labeled and quite detailed too with both descriptions and numbers on the outside of every box to avoid any confusion.
However, since I did opt for the storage version of the bedframe, assembly also took much longer than anticipated. Putting together the bedframe and headboard was a breeze, which is pretty much all that would be required for the non-storage option. However, for this one, the drawers were quite time consuming, but once we got the hang of the first one, things sped up from there.
Overall, not too bad to put together. There are no tools required, but rather interlocking components, so it really does feel like a click and go for the most part. I would certainly recommend doing it with someone because it makes things much easier and faster.
First impressions
I was obsessed, even before the final touches. As soon as the first drawer was built and realizing how large it was, I was sold. The four drawers pretty much made up the entire bed; each drawer size was a quadrant of the bed, which was a very pleasant realization. Not only were they big, they were deep too.
Not that I needed any more convincing, but after the fabric went on, I was left speechless by how amazing everything looked. From the fabric to the colour, to the rounded headboard, I was mesmerized, as was my family. It looked so chic and elevated. I could not believe how much it transformed the room, the space just felt brighter.
Things to consider
Some things to keep in mind with the storage option in particular is that the bedframe has to have clearance on both sides to allow room for the drawers to pull out. While I had initially planned to push it up against a wall, I quickly realized doing so would limit the use of the storage space underneath. Now, if the items being stored are not needed often, it can still be done and just moved as needed, but not ideal. Therefore, this style would only work in a space that has ample room on both sides.
The outer parts of the drawer in the rounded style are quite thick and plush, so it is extremely important to take exact measurements to ensure everything will fit accordingly as one should with any piece of furniture.
Final verdict
I had never been too keen on a platform bed because it always seemed to look too close to the ground, however after my experience with the Cozey Ara bed frame, that is certainly no longer the case. It may have been this preconceived notion that left me in absolute shock at just how great the bed looked. I was not expecting such a huge transformation from changing out a bedframe, but I am not kidding when I say the entire room looked different.
Apart from looks, I love the concept of the fabric being removable, it can be changed out for different fabrics or colours as well as washed when things get messy. A game changer for those who love lighter colours, but worry about messes from kids or pets.
And while its main purpose is a bed frame, the storage feature makes this piece extremely functional. For rooms that may be tight on storage space, this is the perfect solution. It has a ton of space without taking up any additional room.
Overall, no notes. From setup to appearance to functionality, I am very pleased. —Sidra Sheikh
