Melanie Chisolm aka Sporty Spice has tied the knot with her Australian beau Chris Dingwall and naturally she wore Victoria Beckham to say ‘I do.’

The couple actually had two weddings: an intimate civil ceremony in the groom’s homeland followed by a larger party in England in Cumbria party of the country’s bucolic Lake District. For the British portion of the couple’s celebration which happened this past weekend, Chisolm stayed true to her streamlined, minimalist style and wore an elegant lace sheath dress which is very much reminiscent of the Narcisco Rodriguez slip dress worn 30 years ago by Carloyn Bessette.

As the 52-year-old bride shared in an interview with Vogue, she was never a girl that fantasized about her wedding day or what she would wear. “I love weddings; when I go to other people’s I always have good craic. But I wasn’t a girl who grew up dreaming about her dress.”

After becoming engaged last July in Mallorca, Chisolm and Dingwall started to plan their two-part, low-key summer wedding. For the Australian nuptials Chisolm actually ended up borrowing a dress from Beckham’s own wardrobe. Turns out she had ordered a VB dress which needed some alterations and she ran out of time before her wedding day. On a dinner date pre-wedding, Beckham learned of her Chisolm’s bridal fashion drama and offered to lend her a dress from her own personal wardrobe.

“When I asked what she was wearing, she mentioned she had actually ordered one of my dresses but that it didn’t quite fit, and she didn’t have time to get it altered before leaving,” Beckham shared with Vogue. “I happened to have that exact same dress in my own wardrobe and offered to lend it to her.”

Chisolm wore the Victoria Beckham Lace Cami Dress in Australia, and Beckham designed second dress for her to wear in England which was a bespoke version of the same dress. “Victoria wanted to make it much more personal to me. She found some gorgeous vintage lace, and everything was really delicately dyed to the perfect shade. It’s very flattering, open at the back.”

A specific requested detail on the slinky champagne-hued satin gown was a subtle train to add a bit of flair and detail at the hemline. “My daughter was at the first fitting, and she wanted a bit more drama in the length,” Chisolm shared with Vogue of a special moment during the fitting process with Scarlet, her 17-year-old daughter.

To finish the look Chisolm wore matching satin heels and a clutch by Victoria Beckham. Keeping the vibe undone and unfussed, the bride carried a white wildflower bouquet and wore her bronde locks loose and slightly waved. The look is timeless and proof that ‘90s bride vibes will forever and always be alive and iconic. —Alison McGill
