Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at one of Canada’s longest-running fashion and lifestyle magazines? Here, we lift the curtain to reveal a typical day in the heels (Noa), platforms (Julie) and loafers (Tori) of the VITA team and the little tips that help us through!
While we’d like to say our day begins with meditation, a yoga class and a glass of lemon water, the reality is quite different—with one eye open, we check our email, browse the latest on Insta and roll out of bed at least 15 minutes later than we’d planned (we’ll straighten our hair tonight). Then it’s on to one of the most important decisions of the day: choosing a super-chic #ootd that’s weather and mood appropriate and, most importantly, showcases the T-shirt/shoes/pants we just bought.
(Tip one!) We hear that laying out your clothes the night before is a good way to take the stress out of this scenario. Unfortunately, our mommy duties (Noa), dog wrangling (Julie) and Netflix binging (Tori) have the uncanny ability to, each night, convince us that some of our best looks have emerged from the pressure of morning mayhem—even if it’s a result of picking out the only items that are clean and ironed, throwing on a headscarf to cover up our lie-in hair and applying a red lippy.
After all that decision-making we need a coffee, STAT! First stop, Starbucks, for a skinny vanilla (Noa), flat white (Julie) and a cheese Danish or chocolate croissant, depending on current sweet-versus-savoury craving (Tori). Amid the pre-caffeine chaos, one of us forgets our wallet at least once a week, which is why (Tip 2!) we couldn’t be more excited for CIBC’s launch of Android Pay—a simple and secure payment option that lets us add our credit or debit cards to our Android phones to make everyday purchases wherever contactless payments are accepted (we especially love the easy in-app payment function that lets us, as CIBC clients, directly make purchases through our favourite retailer’s app by simply selecting the Android Pay option at check out). Because, let’s be honest, a day without our handbag is totally do-able. A day without our phone is out of the question. It’s a need (and not like a “I need those shoes” need).
Then it’s back to the office for a team meeting to discuss the latest addition to our ongoing bad-denim-trends roundup, check out colour proofs of the new issue of VITA and, inevitably, compare lunch plans—which often consist of a little retail therapy (it’s part of our job, OK?). Luckily, shopping is made easier than ever thanks to Android Pay and our bank, CIBC. No fumbling in our purse for cards; we just take our phone, tap and go. Android Pay even gives us the added convenience of being able to quickly view our purchase history, along with our most recent Android Pay transactions and enhanced merchant information, through Google’s location services.
Then it’s back to HQ to take photos of our purchases for Insta. Now, if only CIBC—which, notably, is the first Canadian financial institution to offer all three leading mobile wallets as it teams up with Google to introduce Android Pay for clients—could make taking the perfect selfie so simple. —Vita Daily
