IKEA is officially bringing back one of its most beloved design collections—and this time, things are getting wonderfully weird.
Launching May 14, the new IKEA PS 2026 collection marks the tenth edition of the cult-favourite series, featuring 43 playful, highly functional pieces that push Scandinavian design in a more experimental direction. Think: hidden compartments, unexpected movement, inflatable furniture, and objects that reveal themselves through interaction.
In other words: minimalist design, but with a sense of humour.
Originally launched in 1995, IKEA PS has long served as the retailer’s creative playground—a space where designers can test bold ideas while staying rooted in the brand’s signature democratic design philosophy. For the 2026 edition, 12 designers were given an intentionally open brief to create products that feel expressive, adaptable, and full of personality.
The result is a collection packed with clever details. There’s a dining table featuring a hidden drawer accessible from both ends, a bent-periscope-inspired wall clock, a rocking bench that physically moves with the body, and a pine stool with a ratchet mechanism that encourages hands-on play.
Then there’s the standout conversation piece: an inflatable green chair suspended inside a tubular chrome frame. Apparently, IKEA has spent decades trying—and failing—to successfully use air as a furniture material. IKEA PS 2026 finally cracked it after designer Mikael Axelsson reportedly hand-welded 20 prototypes to perfect the design.
Worth it.
Beyond the furniture, the collection also includes colourful rugs, graphic textiles, hand-blown glass vases, and adaptable seating designed for increasingly flexible living spaces.
“What’s exciting about the IKEA PS 2026 collection is how it’s designed to adapt,” said EJ Middelhoven, Head of Home Furnishing & Retail Design for IKEA Canada. “For many Canadians, affordability is top of mind, and the furniture they choose needs to offer versatility for changing needs without compromising on design.”
Translation: your furniture now needs to multitask almost as hard as you do.

We wanted a heavy duty gantry crane that could manage continuous loading operations without operational delays. Shiv Shankar Techno delivered a well engineered solution that perfectly matched our production environment. Their technical team explained every detail clearly and maintained transparency from manufacturing to installation. In the middle of evaluating multiple gantry crane manufacturers in india this company impressed us with their build quality and commitment toward client satisfaction. The crane operates with excellent stability and has helped us improve workflow efficiency across our facility. Definitely a reliable industrial partner.
