Tasting Notes: Glenmorangie A Tale of Cake

November 30, 2020

We’ve previously reviewed Glenmorangie’s 10-year-old scotch. This is the label’s (limited-edition) tokaji dessert wine cask finish.

The colour, a gorgeous gold, is similar to the 10-year-old scotch. The nose is a multi-layered array of sweet smells. We are brought into a bakery, witnessing the caramelization process. There’s also marzipan in the baking trays, and some kind of Christmas cake with dried fruits. We also detect a note of vanilla. Yum!

Flavour-wise, the whisky has the vibrance of a younger whisky, with some of the more pleasant aspects of an older one. At first, we detected white peach, followed by a light caramel, with a long and sweet finish.

This is an amazing gift for any scotch amateur with a sweet tooth. We’ve tasted it without cake. It works, too. Guillaume Garih
