This small, independent antique shop holds one of the city’s best secret vintage collections, from furnishings (our office lamp comes from here) to clothing (our favourite denim jacket, too). the coast goods. This store, housed in a 100-plus-year-old building on the corner of Victoria and Charles, is stuffed with incredible gift items—products like scarves, serving bowls, stoneware and soaps (and that’s just the “s” items) by independent artisans and ethical makers. south china seas trading co. Travelling east, just shy of First Avenue, the foodie on your list will thank you (and hopefully feed you) for a gift from South China Seas. The store’s motto says it all: life’s too short for boring food. figaro’s garden. Got a plant lover in your life (don’t we all)? Since 2013, Figaro’s Garden has been a staple of the East Van community. Housed in the former Friendly Grocery, snag superb greenery, including coveted (read: trendy) houseplants and succulents, or a gift card, for the green thumb on your list.
