Doesn’t it feel amazing when you can spend an hour on your yoga mat or at the gym, with no distractions, just focusing on yourself? It’s a wonderful idea, but for most of us, it’s more of a fantasy than a reality. Between kids, work, groceries, meal planning, and everything else, finding that hour becomes a challenge. And even if you manage to make it to that hour-long yoga class, it can easily turn into two hours with driving, parking, and getting there early enough to snag your favorite spot.
Or maybe you have it on your to-do list but it keeps getting pushed down, leaving you frustrated because you just can’t seem to fit it in. The solution isn’t more stress — it’s microdosing movement!
By reframing your day as a series of mini movement opportunities, you’ll find less aches and pains, more energy, and greater nervous system support. So, what does that look like?
Here’s how to sneak in movement throughout your day:
- Short yoga breaks: Can’t fit in an hour on your mat? No problem! Break it up into two 15-minute sessions, one in the morning and one before bed.
- Walk the extra mile: If you’re driving your kids to school or running errands, park further away and enjoy those extra steps.
- Kettle time stretch: Instead of scrolling on your phone while waiting for the kettle to boil, do a few shoulder stretches to release built-up tension.
- Stretch while you watch TV: Sit on the floor during your favorite show and stretch your spine, hips, and hamstrings.
- Walk and talk: Turn your phone call with a friend into a walk. Slip in your earbuds, put on your shoes, and catch up while moving your body.
- Shake it out: If you have kids, take a couple of minutes to shake, wiggle, and bounce together. If not, adults need to get silly too — take a break and shake off the stress!
- Schedule it: Add 10 minutes of simple stretches or yoga poses to your calendar each day. Having it planned out makes it more likely to happen.
- Breathing on the road: Practice deep breathing while driving — it’s a great time to focus on relaxation.
- Balance while brushing: Try balancing on one foot while brushing your teeth. It’s great for both your body and your brain!
Notice how many movement opportunities we have when we start thinking outside the box? The key is trusting that these microdoses of movement will add up, helping you feel more balanced, calm, and consistently better throughout your day.

Boas pessoal!
