With 20 million fans (and counting), Kay and Tay have become the internet’s favourite couple—serving up real talk, belly laughs, and viral snack cravings as they navigate parenthood in the most relatable way possible. Now, with baby number two on the way, we caught up with the dynamic duo to chat pregnancy round two, prepping for life with two littles, and how they keep their love—and content—genuine in a world that’s anything but filtered. —Noa Nichol
You’ve made millions laugh (and cry) with your content—what’s one moment behind the scenes that didn’t make it to TikTok but totally sums up your parenting style?
Tay: We try our best to catch all of Ellie’s “firsts” and funny moments of the day, but we aren’t perfect!
Kay: Ellie does silly things all day long, and we aren’t always able to capture it! One moment that never made it to TikTok but totally sums up our parenting style… Ellie once spent 45 minutes following a roly-poly in our side yard! She was squatting down, talking/singing to it, trying to give it leaves. I had my phone in my hand, ready to film… but just watched!
Tay: That’s kind of how we parent at this stage! Letting her lead, slowing down, and getting on her level. Even if it means watching her talk to a bug for nearly an hour!
Tay, your cooking series for Kay’s pregnancy cravings has gone viral—what’s the wildest thing Kay has asked you to make so far, and did it actually taste good?
Tay: Surprisingly, all of them have been so good! Kay has a talent of combining the most random things into a must-have recipe! We have had many a thousand requests for Kay to make a pregnancy craving cookbook. So we might just have to do that one day! As for the wildest, probably her sugar cookie pizza! It was a giant sugar cookie with cream cheese spread on top, and then pineapples, bacon, and jalapeños! She called it a PB&J pizza!
You’re preparing to welcome baby number two together—how is this pregnancy different from the first, and how is your toddler reacting to the news?
Kay: For me it’s baby #3! And the biggest difference compared to the past two pregnancies is how much Bug (this baby) moves! She is ALWAYS turning and kicking, and I didn’t get a lot of that with Ellie or Kinsley! As for how Ellie has reacted, I don’t think she fully understands that there is a baby in there. I think she is going to be surprised when she meets her little sister! One thing I have noticed though is that she is super cuddly with my bump and always wants to touch it, so maybe she does know… we will see when Bug gets here!
You’ve been together for over a decade, through career changes, parenthood, and now influencer fame. What’s your secret sauce for staying connected through it all?
Tay: The trick for us was just being best friends first! It’s so easy to work with your best friend.
Kay: Also we know each other so well now. I feel like Tay knows me better than I know myself. So we are able to use that not only in our relationship, but also in our entrepreneurial journey! We have a good balance of working and setting time for our relationship.
Content creation is your full-time gig now—was there a moment when you both looked at each other and thought, ‘Yep, we’re really doing this’?
Kay: Well the opportunity kind of just fell in my lap. I was working as a dental assistant, and my doctor was relocating to a distant office. So basically the entire team left with the doctor. And I had 2 options. Try to restart with a new team, or go full time with content creation!
Tay: My story is a little different. My profession allows me to work as much or little as I would like! So I have continued to freelance and work when I want, and relax a bit when I want! Haha.
Social media loves the two of you—do you ever feel pressure to keep it ‘real’ while also protecting your privacy and mental health? How do you balance that line?
Tay: We have carved a nice slice out where our content doesn’t need to be anything special for us to succeed. We can post our day as it happens, and people like to tune in!
Kay: It’s so nice to know that there isn’t really an expectation with us. One day we might be on an adventure in Dubai, and the next Tay is cooking up a pregnancy craving! Our content is all over the place! Because of that, it’s pretty easy to just live our life normally and share what we choose to share as life happens!
What’s something about your relationship that people might not expect from watching your videos?
Tay: This isn’t really about our relationship, but more about us… The biggest thing I notice is that people think we are both super outgoing because we post daily to social media… We are actually very quiet and reserved in public! Haha. It’s only when we are at home and feel comfortable that we are our normal selves!
If your kids could someday scroll through your feed, what’s the one message or memory you’d want them to take away from it?
Kay: I think it will be so fun for them to scroll through and more or less have a daily vlog of their life for any day they want! I go back sometimes and I am reminded of events that I completely forgot about! I am sure it will be really fun for them to go watch themselves as babies!
You’ve built a massive following by being unapologetically yourselves. What advice would you give to other couples or families who want to show up online in a real, authentic way?
Tay: Don’t try to be someone for the camera. Because this is a lifestyle. You have to post daily. So imagine putting on a face and being someone else every day of your life… That would be torture. Just be yourself and be genuine, and you will find your audience!
Let’s fast forward five years—what does life look like for Kay and Tay, both on and offline? More babies? A cooking show? World domination?
Tay: We are working on a nutrition brand – Hey! Nutrition. So hopefully that is doing well 5 years from now! Haha. Kay has products that she is releasing with brands also. So hopefully in 5 years, we have gotten into physical stores and are successful business owners! (Of course still taking everyone on that adventure with us online)
Kay: I hope that I continue to have all of this time with my children. Because we are truly blessed right now with the time we have. I want to watch them grow up and spend as much time with them as possible!
Anything else you want to share?
Kay: We just launched Kay’s Glow Serum in partnership with Bohemia Skin, a radiance-boosting, oxygen-infused glow serum!
