Curl Power: Dippity-Do’s Girls With Curls Gets Even Better (Win!)

October 16, 2025

Contests, Health & Beauty

If you grew up hearing the word Dippity-Do and pictured a perfect hold without the crunchy cast, you’re not alone. The brand that launched the original Dippity-Do Gel in 1965 has quietly reinvented itself for a whole new curl generation—enter Dippity-Do Girls with Curls, a full lineup built specifically for 2A–4C hair types that delivers salon-worthy results without breaking the bank.

Why curl lovers are buzzing

Girls with Curls takes the best of old-school haircare—reliable performance, approachable price—and blends it with modern, cleaner formulas. Think coconut oil, shea butter, vitamin E and plant proteins working together to hydrate, define and strengthen. The roster is paraben-free, sulfate-free, silicone-free and cruelty-free—proof that fuss-free curls can also be thoughtful about ingredients.

New launches you’ll want on your shelf

This fall the brand dropped two wallet-friendly essentials that feel like must-haves for anyone who styles wet-and-dry:

  • Heat Protectant — $11.49 CAD: A lightweight leave-in spray that shields curls from heat up to 150°F/65°C—perfect for diffusing or low-heat styling. It pairs moringa, argan and avocado oils with cocoa butter and hydrolyzed vegetable protein for definition and bounce without weight. Silicone-free and color-safe, it’s ideal for texture-first styling.
  • Moisturizing Curl Mask — $11.49 CAD: A lush weekly treat infused with shea, jojoba and marula oils plus hydrolyzed soy protein to detangle, repair and restore. Use it as a deep-conditioner to revive softness and smooth frizz—your curls will thank you.

Where to find it

Dippity-Do Girls with Curls is rolling out across Canada—now available at Shoppers Drug Mart and Loblaw’s, plus Walmart, Jean Coutu and online. Pacific World Corporation—which owns the brand—says the retailer partnerships were chosen to bring curl care to everyday shopping trips, making premium formulas easier to find coast to coast.

The rest of the lineup worth trying

If you’re new to the line or building a curl routine, these fan favorites are staples: Light Hold Gelée (the modern-day cult classic), Curl Defining Cream, Curl-Boosting Mousse, Leave-In Detangling Conditioner and the Deep Treatment Mask. There are also refreshing midweek spritzes and buttery styling creams for island-inspired glossy definition.

Why it matters

Dippity-Do Girls with Curls isn’t trying to rewrite the curl playbook—it’s filling in the pages many curl-curious shoppers still need: accessible price points, reliable performance and cleaner formulas that won’t overcomplicate your routine. For anyone who loves texture, hates crunch, and wants healthy-looking curls without five steps and a fortune, this line hits the sweet spot.

Bottom line: classic brand, modern moves

From a 1965 hair staple to a full-service curl destination, Dippity-Do has kept one promise—good hair that’s easy to get. Girls with Curls proves that retro brands can evolve in ways that matter: smart formulas, thoughtful ingredients and wide availability. Try the new heat protectant and mask for $11.49 each and see what the curl crowd is raving about. —Vita Daily

I used Dippity-doo in the 70’s and 80’s to curl my bone straight hair. I loved how it kept my hair curly all day.

I usually just untangle the curls with my fingers, but sometimes use a wide tooth comb, leave in conditioner to hydrate, curl balm to style, and use a diffuser if I need it dry, otherwise air dry. @michwe142024

I have dry frizzy hair. I try to hydrate my curls but always on the look out to help control my frizzy hair.

Anxious to try this! I remember Dippity-Do from my childhood! Right now a leave-in conditioner helps with my frizz but weighs curls down too I think. @cmcleodmetz
