Holidays @ The Met: Where Coastal Cheer Meets Mall Magic (Win!)

Sleigh bells are ringing louder than ever at Metropolis at Metrotown, where the holidays are getting a distinctly West Coast twist. Starting November 12, B.C.’s biggest shopping centre transforms into a cosy coastal wonderland—complete with twinkling décor, live performances and the highly anticipated return of West Coast Santa.

Forget the North Pole—this Santa trades reindeer for rugged boots, flannel and a driftwood walking stick. Whether he’s storm-watching in Tofino or sipping cocoa in his cedar cabin, West Coast Santa embodies the laid-back charm of the Pacific Northwest. Families can meet him (and his festive friends, from Father Christmas to Global Santa) during the Santa Experience, running November 12 to December 30, with proceeds from photos supporting Family Services of Greater Vancouver and Burnaby Neighbourhood House.

And that’s not all—this year, The Met is unwrapping a brand-new treat: the Holiday Hive Market on December 6 and 7. Expect 30-plus local vendors, from eF & Be Bakehouse’s Japanese pastries to Bliss Out Coffee’s seasonal lattes, plus live music, a kids’ craft zone and free photo booth fun.

Other festive highlights include a charity gift wrap station (December 1 to 24), a Toy Drive in partnership with Burnaby Christmas Bureau (December 6) and the return of The Toy Room, helping local families find the perfect holiday gifts.
