Sticker-Book Sparkle + Sweethearts: Inside Olive & Piper’s Playful Y2K Love Story (Win!)

January 20, 2026

Featured, Holidays

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Vancouver-based jewelry brand Olive & Piper is leaning into flirty nostalgia with a Y2K-inspired collection made for first crushes, inside jokes, and a little self-love, too. From heart-shaped drops to stackable sweetheart rings, the new drop channels early-2000s “be mine” energy through a modern, wearable lens. We caught up with founder Tania Yan to talk about designing for joy, why playful accessories feel especially right right now, and how this collection celebrates love in all its many forms. —Noa Nichol

This collection leans into soft Y2K nostalgia. What specific memories, aesthetics, or emotions from that era did you want to reimagine through these designs?

The early 2000s felt playful and expressive in a really unapologetic way! I wanted to capture that sense of lightness when getting dressed was about fun, stickers, hearts, and tiny sparkles that felt personal. There’s a sweetness from that era that I still love, and we reimagined it in a more wearable way for today’s Olive & Piper customer.

Valentine’s Day today is about more than just romantic love. How did you approach designing pieces that feel just as meaningful for friendships, self-love, and everyday moments worth celebrating?

We designed this collection with the idea that love shows up in SO many forms. Whether it’s your best friend, a first crush, or simply treating yourself, these pieces are meant to feel joyful. They’re small reminders to celebrate the moments and people that make everyday life feel special.

From heart-shaped drop earrings to stackable sweetheart rings, the collection feels playful but still wearable. How do you strike that balance between fun, trend-led design and pieces women will love long after February 14?

That balance is always top of mind for us. We love trends, but we don’t want anything to feel like it’s for one-time wear. With this collection, we focused on subtle sparkle, soft silhouettes, and pieces that can be styled and reached for year-round. The hearts are playful, but they’re also timeless.

Olive & Piper is known for creating joy through accessible, feel-good jewelry. What role does affordability play in allowing women to celebrate themselves—and others—more often?

Affordability is a huge part of our brand DNA. Jewelry shouldn’t be reserved only for big milestones. When pieces are accessible, it opens the door for more self-gifting, spontaneous gifts, and those “just because” moments.

As a woman-founded, Vancouver-based brand, how does your own perspective influence the way Olive & Piper approaches moments like Valentine’s Day for modern women?

I think being a woman-founded and run brand naturally shapes how we view occasions like Valentine’s Day. We approach it with inclusivity and realism knowing that not everyone experiences the day the same way. Our goal is to create pieces that feel empowering and versatile to fit into real life.

Whether someone is gifting or self-gifting, what do you hope they feel the moment they put on a piece from this collection?

I hope they feel happy! Like an instant mood lift. Whether it’s a gift from someone else or something they chose for themselves, I want each piece to feel like a little reminder that they’re worth celebrating, exactly as they are.
