As the winter doldrums begin to fade, Savon Du Bois is inviting us to reimagine the shift into spring not as a frantic rush of “spring cleaning,” but as a series of small, intentional rituals. Founded by certified aromatherapist and perfumer Anne Du Bois, the Picton, Ontario-based brand is rooted in the art of fragrance storytelling—using scent to ground us in the present moment.
From the sun-drenched hills of France to breezy Mediterranean afternoons, these handcrafted collections offer a sensorial escape that nourishes both the skin and the spirit. We sat down with Anne to discuss the memories behind her iconic scents and how to turn a mundane morning routine into a therapeutic reset.

A Sensory Journey to Provence
The Vacation in Provence collection is more than a scent; it’s a nostalgic narrative woven with notes of lavender, rosemary, and rose. For Anne, the inspiration was deeply personal.
“My husband’s family had a home in the South of France, where my mother-in-law had a beautiful garden,” Anne shares. “Time seemed to slow down there, and I can vividly recall lengthy family meals spent outdoors surrounded by fragrant trees, flowers and herbs. These were sensory memories for us, where place, people and food all came together”.
The Body: Shaking Off the Winter Dryness
To transition your skin out of hibernation, the collection’s Body Wash ($34 CAD) and Bath Salts ($35 CAD) are designed to alleviate lingering winter dryness. Anne’s small-batch process prioritizes “food for the skin” over flashy aesthetics.
“You won’t find colours and swirls in my soaps, but you will enjoy a luxurious lather that is gentle and deeply hydrating,” Anne explains. “I formulate [the bar soaps] to include hydrating coconut oil, avocado oil and shea butter. Bergamot and lemongrass are both wonderful for cleansing the skin while rejuvenating the mind”.
For the ultimate “olfactory wander,” her bath salts utilize a triple-blend of Epsom, Dead Sea, and Himalayan salts. “The magnesium-rich Epsom salts are soothing for stress … Dead Sea Salt is very high in minerals which can alleviate numerous skin conditions … and Himalayan Salt is a wonderful detox,” she notes.
The Ritual: Mindfulness in the Morning
Anne is a firm believer that self-care should be an act of mindfulness rather than a chore. She reimagines the daily shampoo as a luxurious grounding ritual.
“I learned from my hairdresser… how to make a ritual out of cleaning my hair,” says Anne. “I take a few extra minutes to work the rich lather into my scalp and hair, which increases circulation… while also giving the soap more time to soak in and hydrate”. Her Shampoo ($36 CAD) and Conditioner ($36 CAD) utilize silk amino acids and aloe vera to repair the hair shaft while the scent of peppermint and lavender provides an uplifting start to the day.
The Home: Capturing Summer Daydreams
To bring the brightness of spring indoors, the Summer Daydream collection uses bergamot, basil, and white grapefruit to evoke the feeling of sunlit rooms and open windows.
“I was thinking of a warm summer day in Italy, and a breeze lightly scented with citrus and herbs, slowly moving through the home,” Anne reflects. This mood is captured perfectly in the collection’s Candle ($55 CAD), hand-poured into recycled, handblown Moroccan glass, and the Room Spray ($26 CAD), which instantly refreshes linens with a “sunlight ambience”.
Rooted in Sustainability
Every Savon Du Bois product is handcrafted in small batches, with a steadfast commitment to ethical practices as a PETA and Leaping Bunny certified brand.
“I do not use any animal materials or synthetic substitutes when creating my fragrances,” Anne asserts. “I do not see these choices as limitations, but believe I have a richer palette with which to work. A natural fragrance is more interesting, more nuanced, more layered”.
Whether you are soaking in minerals or spritzing your home with the scent of a Mediterranean breeze, Savon Du Bois proves that the most meaningful spring resets start with a single, intentional breath. —Noa Nichol

Such a beautiful reminder that self-care can be a ritual rather than a routine. The way scent and texture can transform a simple morning into a mindful moment is so true. I’ve even started treating my grooming time the same way – visiting my favorite barber and slowing down the process makes the whole day feel more intentional. Love the Provence inspiration and the idea of turning everyday care into a sensory escape.
