cheap eats

May 25, 2007

Sometimes you want a white tablecloth, sablefish, and a chilled glass of vinho verde.

Other times you’re happy with paper towels, a guava soda and tacos dripping with salsa verde.

When you’re in the mood for the latter, head to Yaletown’s new Chilos Tacqueria, where roasted pork and steak soft-shelled tacos loaded with onions, lime and cilantro are just $1.50 each.

The sombreros, flags and Mexican soccer posters on the walls, salt water taffy at the till, and fruit pops in the freezer add to the kitschy fun—if it had wheels, it would be a catering truck.

But when lunch is just $8? Mamacita! See you there.

Cash only. Chilos Tacqueria, 1351 Richards St, (at Drake), 604-909-7500.
