EAT OUR WORDS

October 17, 2008

We would never lead you into a dining faux passo we must lead you to Les
Faux Bourgeois.

The month-old French bistro has been packed nightly (heed our call:
reserve a week ahead) with a cool mix of Main Street mavens and hip
empty nesters.

Built by the former owner of Jules Bistro in Gastown (now a Faux
Bourgeois partner) the place looks more like an Old Montreal
institution, with lacquered wood, a busy bar, and blown glass
lightsrather than the Vietnamese restaurant it once was.

The menu
is traditional toothink Frissé with lardons, piping hot pomme frîte, and
a Mount Pleasant Picnic of charcuturie.

Still waiting on that table? In two weeks, the next-door café will
become an evening spillover spot with its own bar. Better get dialing
now.
