Porcelain and Pageantry

June 1, 2012

If theres anything the Brits know better than making the perfect brew,
its designing the cup its poured into.

To mark Elizabeths Diamond Jubilee, the Gardiner Museum has launched Rule
Britannia!
, celebrating four centuries of stylish British ceramics.
The exhibit features all things bright and beautiful from fine bone
Regency tea sets and Gothic Revival chargers to poppy-patterned Wedgwood
and a glorious Art Nouveau wash set by Royal Doulton.

We swooned amongst the Royal Commemoratives including a delicate blue
and gold cup dedicated to the wedding of Wills and Kate. Dont tell Her
Majesty but wed fill ours with Pimms. Marianne Wisenthal

Tickets from $6. Until September 16th, Gardiner Museum, 111 Queens Park,
Toronto, 416-586-8080, www.gardinermuseum.com
