Financial District mainstay Far Niente‘s been plugging along for 18 years, but that doesn’t mean the restaurant’s doing the same old, same old, still.
In updating his menu, chef Jun Geem’s given some tried-and-true dishes a face lift (case in point: the classic Caesar salad now features pork belly and am irresistable anchovy crumble), plus added all-new items like a hefty portion of foie gras served with a chocolate cherry terrine (it may sound odd, but the tart sweetness of the latter actually balances the richness of the former, says Geem). Trust, you’ll be a chocolate-cherry-foie-gras fan ‘fore you know it.
Something old-ish, something new, and we approve. —Karen Kwan
