As part of its Garments for Goods program, J.Crew has created a cool Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) kids’ whale tee ($35.50, available from March 8) hand-sketched by its head of women’s design (the stylishly talented Somsack Sikhounmuong).
For each shirt sold, 50 per cent of the price goes to the ROM’s impressive Blue Whale Project (NB: the museum’s Out of the Depths: The Blue Whale Story exhibit opens March 11 in Toronto). All of the money raised contributes to the conservation of the mighty marine mammal that’s disappearing due to overfishing, pollution and climate change. For us grown-ups, Somsack has also designed a fetching whale-print men’s T-shirt and a women’s Breton-style top.
Now that’s what we call killer (whale) fashion. —Marianne Wisenthal
