With the recent re-launch of Victoria’s Secret‘s Dream Angels collection, which now includes brand-new eye-popping bustier styles and ooh-la-la laced-up bralettes, we had the chance to speak exclusively to supermodel Romee Strijd and ask her what it’s like being a real-life Victoria’s Secret Angel on Earth. —Nicole Chiu & Noa Nicole

What do you love most about being a Victoria Secret Angel?

Being an Angel gives you a platform as a model to reach a large audience. I love being able to represent a brand I’m so passionate about along with my fellow Angels and the Victoria’s Secret family as a whole.

Who in the fashion/modelling world inspires you?

So many people in fashion/modelling inspire me in many ways. From amazingly talented designers showcasing their creativity during fashion week to models that work their ass off and never seem to stop growing, like Adriana Lima—the industry is always changing and that’s always so inspiring.

Do you get stage fright before a runway show?

I haven’t been nervous too many times … it’s always just been exciting to me! However, sometimes when I wear really tall heels or complicated outfits I can definitely get nervous.

What do you think of when you’re on the runway?

Depends on which show it is. Victoria’s Secret I want to give great energy and happy vibes, so I put my thoughts in that space. For Alexander Wang I try to walk cooler and boyish, like someone where everything looks effortless. So it’s all about the vibe of the show!

If you could go back in time and talk to your younger self, what piece of advice would you give?

Learn to drink coffee! I couldn’t stand the smell when I was younger … now I can’t get enough of it!

Can you share a best fashion or beauty tip with us? We’d also love a best bra-fit or lingerie secret!

Dare to go out of your comfort zone. Stick with what YOU like about yourself. Following the trends is a good thing in my opinion, but don’t be afraid to give it your own personal twist.

If you could ban a fashion trend right now, what would it be?

I don’t really feel like banning any trend. If a certain trend doesn’t personally appeal to me, I’ll just go on without it!

What is at the top of your bucket list?

Celebrating my 21st birthday in Vegas with my fellow Angels! Going to happen very soon!

You’re stuck on a deserted island, and you can have one other Angel with you—who would it be and why?

Hmm, this is a tough one! Lais invited me over to a beautiful island in Brazil to celebrate the New Year last year with Jasmine and that was so much fun, .but being on a deserted island is a different story!

What is your guilty pleasure?

Peanut butter imported from Hawaii! I order it online and have to wait for days before it arrives but it’s the best.

If you weren’t owning the runway, what would you be doing, career-wise, right now?

Maybe something in the entertainment industry; I think organizing events would be a lot of fun for me.
