How To Have The Most Esthetic West Hollywood Weekend @ Palihouse

May 15, 2024

It seems that we are always the last to dive into summer thanks to the June Gloom that we experience in Vancouver. If you’re looking for a quick and easy trip away for some sun and excitement, here is the perfect weekend itinerary in West Hollywood while staying at the Palihouse Hotel.

In the vibrant heart of West Hollywood lies Palihouse, one of the unique Palisociety properties which can mainly be found in California (with a few locations in other states). Since LA is so vast, it’s probably best to pick a neighbourhood and stick to it if you’re just visiting for the weekend. WeHo is one of the most fun and central, with fabulous restaurants, boutiques and cafes to keep you busy.

Palihouse West Hollywood has a distinctive blend of classic architecture with contemporary flare. It feels upscale, but completely unique to other properties. Upon your arrival, freshen up in your room and head downstairs for a complimentary drink at the highly acclaimed Lobby Lounge and Bar. You may be tired after traveling, so for dinner you won’t need to wander far. On the same block as the hotel is Son of a Gun, a hip seafood restaurant known for its shrimp toast and lobster roll.  A few feet up from here is Melanie Wine Bar, which also serves food but offers a sophisticated wine list in an intimate yet trendy space to enjoy after dinner.

Another convenient food option is the brand new Doughbrik’s Pizza take-out window on the property. The doughy and made-to-order pies are perfect for a cheeky snack and is right downstairs.

On Saturday morning, you have loads of breakfast options to choose from. Perhaps the best (and most convenient) option is Joan’s on Third, quite literally next to Palihouse. This is a marketplace style dining experience, so if you’d prefer a sit-down brunch, there is no place better than The Butcher, The Baker, The Cappuccino Maker on Sunset.

If you’re overwhelmed with the number of choices of restaurants and bars, the well-informed staff at Palihouse can point you in the right direction. They also have this convenient page on their website that highlights the best of their neighbourhood.

Once you are fuelled up, it’s time to shop. Stroll up 3rd to explore a vast array of boutiques, or hop in a quick Uber to Melrose for some of LA’s most famous shopping spots. If you’re into thrifting, Melrose is where you will want to be. Palihouse is also walking distance to the Beverly Center (plus Target and Ulta), but our favourite mall is Westfield Century City.

Be sure to prioritize some relaxing time one the hotel’s stunning pool deck. Once the elevator doors open, you are transported into an elegant pool house. The manicured deck boasts gorgeous striped lawn furniture and scalloped umbrellas where you can chill until dinner.

From chic rooftop bars to cozy bistros, West Hollywood offers a dining experience to suit every palate. Some nearby hotspots include Ladyhawk, Gracias Madre, and Saltie Girl. Be sure to also check which shows are in town before you go!

There are also loads of special museums and exhibitions constantly popping up in LA (like the World of Barbie Expo or Netflix’s Immersive Experiences) so be sure to ask the Palihouse staff about these, too.

It’s impossible to fit every amazing café, museum, restaurant and boutique into one weekend in WeHo. The perfectly situated Palihouse West Hollywood and their beautiful amenities will be waiting for you when fall comes around and you need your next dose of sunshine. —Maddie Clerides
