Spring is such a popular time for home renovations. What are some of the biggest trends you’re seeing right now in kitchen and bathroom design?

We are witnessing a growing embrace of finishes that age gracefully, offering a sense of character and the allure of a curated, collected feel. There’s a rising appreciation for the comfort and warmth of spaces that exude a “lived-in” essence. The once-ubiquitous all-white kitchen is gradually giving way to multi-tonal designs, where rich, dark wood tones harmonize with more intricate, natural textures. While white kitchens will always retain their timeless appeal, the shift is toward warmer whites and the artful blending of diverse natural stones. By avoiding a design tethered to any specific era, a kitchen gains a sense of permanence, ensuring its beauty withstands the test of time.Bathrooms, too, are evolving. The trend is moving away from sterile, bright spaces toward more intimate, moody environments—yet with an unwavering connection to the indulgence of a luxury spa experience. The ubiquitous use of all-white marble tile is being reimagined, often in combination with a medley of tiles in various sizes and finishes, creating a more dynamic and intriguing aesthetic. Faucets with living finishes, which develop a natural patina over time, are making their mark, though we foresee that while they offer undeniable beauty, many will shy away from finishes that may be mistaken for wear rather than an intentional aging process.

For homeowners planning a Spring reno, where do you suggest they start—especially if they’re tackling both functionality and style?

We always recommend dedicating ample time to the space planning process and carefully considering the flow and function of a room before delving into the selection of finishes and materials. The possibilities for crafting a design that not only enhances sightlines but also prioritizes functionality are endless. Once you’ve narrowed down your favorite one or two layout options, you can then turn your focus to the finer details—such as finishes and cabinetry design. From that point, the remaining elements of the design tend to fall into place more naturally, ensuring that the concept aligns seamlessly with the layout, rather than forcing an aesthetic that feels misaligned or inauthentic to the space. 

What materials or finishes are making a comeback in kitchens and bathrooms this season?

Warmer natural stones, such as travertines and marbles with rich creams and golden undertones, are making a striking return—offering a refreshing contrast to the prolonged era of white-on-white design. While white marbles will always hold their timeless allure, but the mix of various white tiles and sizes and configurations is key or now they are often paired with other stones to create a more dynamic and nuanced aesthetic. There’s a growing trend of embracing bolder choices in natural stone, with statement pieces in unexpected hues like blush, burgundy, and deep green.In bathroom design, the once-popular minimalist approach is giving way to more layered, maximalist styles, mirroring the shift we’ve seen in kitchens. The rigidity of a single design aesthetic is fading; now, blending various styles is not only accepted but encouraged. Shower experiences are evolving, focusing less on an abundance of features and more on the thoughtful selection of materials that elevate the space. While freestanding tubs continue to dominate, expect to see more adventurous choices in this area as well. Much like a one-of-a-kind range hood can become the centerpiece of a kitchen, look for unique and inventive ways to incorporate bathtubs as statement pieces in bathroom designs.

Can you share one of your favorite kitchen or bathroom transformations you’ve worked on recently—and what made it feel fresh and timeless?

We are absolutely captivated by the newly completed attached bathroom and closet space in this new build. Our love for warm wood tones shines through, yet in this particular design, the harmonious blend of rich wood, creamy white stone, and bronze shower glass maintains a modern edge. The brass lighting and hardware, however, introduce a soft warmth that invites comfort and elevates the overall ambiance. The addition of gray-toned wall coverings and drapery creates a striking contrast with the other finishes, adding depth and complexity, and ensuring the space feels both layered and thoughtfully curated.

What’s your best advice for someone renovating on a tighter budget, but still looking to elevate their space with high impact?

We always advocate for investing in high-quality plumbing fixtures and fittings. Anything hidden behind beautiful tile, such as the elements roughed into the walls, is difficult to replace, so it’s wise to choose brands known for both enduring performance and timeless design. While it’s exciting to experiment with tile selections, be cautious not to fall into the trap of fleeting trends or bargain-bin options. Many mosaic tiles in bold colors and shapes may lose their charm over time, so steer clear of what’s constantly resurfacing on Pinterest. Instead of replicating ideas from your Pinterest board, focus on what genuinely resonates with you and give it your own unique twist. After all, don’t just follow trends—create a space that others will want to emulate.
