Only Rihanna could steal the spotlight at a world premiere about little blue creatures—and do it in haute couture.
At The Smurfs World Premiere, the pop icon turned fashion force arrived in a custom CHANEL ensemble that was equal parts ethereal and iconic. Inspired by Look 50 from the CHANEL Haute Couture Spring-Summer 2003 collection, the outfit featured a flowing celadon green silk caddie and chiffon top and skirt, meticulously embroidered with 80,200 shimmering elements, including crystals, porcelain sequins, and 250 delicate feathers.
Elevating the ensemble further? A tone-on-tone organza and feather camellia, one of CHANEL’s most beloved signatures, and jeweled buttons that added a final flourish of Parisian polish.
And while it may have looked effortlessly divine on the carpet, this was no easy feat: the dreamy look took a staggering 840 hours of craftsmanship to complete—proving that, when it comes to couture, Rihanna doesn’t just wear fashion … she is fashion. —Noa Nichol
