If you’ve ever had your bindings checked, been guided safely down an icy run, or simply enjoyed a perfectly open mountain after a wild overnight storm—thank a ski patroller.
Next Tuesday, February 10, 2026, Helly Hansen is marking the fifth annual International Ski Patrol Day (ISPD), a global celebration dedicated to the hardworking patrollers who keep ski hills safe, open, and fun from first chair to last run.
Often called the unsung heroes of the slopes, ski patrollers do it all: avalanche control, first aid, rescue response, trail maintenance, safety checks, and keeping calm when conditions are anything but. As Verbier ski patroller Théo Besse puts it, “We go to work every day, no matter the conditions… and though our job is very demanding, it’s also incredibly rewarding.”
And if you’ve ever wondered whether pros feel the same gratitude? They do. Helly Hansen ambassador and professional skier Marcus Caston says it best: “It’s nice to know ski patrollers are always there and have our back… getting the mountain open, making sure it’s safe for us to go skiing, or when there’s a problem, pulling us out and getting us home safe.”
To mark the anniversary, Helly Hansen is also putting real support behind the celebration. From February 10 onward, the brand will donate 5% of e-commerce sales and select retail store sales to organizations supporting ski patrol around the world—including the Canadian Ski Patrol and the Fédération Internationale des Patrouilles de Ski (FIPS). Since launching ISPD in 2022, Helly Hansen has partnered with nearly 50 resorts across Europe and North America, helping fund workshops and resources around avalanche safety, mental health, injury response, and more.
Want to join in? Post a quick thank-you on social, give your local patrol team a nod on the hill, and take a second to appreciate the people who make winter feel a little safer for all of us.
