This summer, Toronto is about to welcome the world. From August 2–7, the GTA will play host to the JCC Maccabi Games—an international, Olympic-style event bringing together more than 2,000 Jewish teen athletes from across the globe, marking the Games’ first return to the city in 40 years.
But this isn’t just about sport. With more than 20,000 athletes, coaches, families, and spectators expected to arrive, the Games are shaping up to be one of the region’s biggest cultural moments of the summer—blending competition with connection, identity, and community pride.
At a time when many are seeking unity and resilience, the Games offer something deeper: a powerful coming together of young people from around the world to celebrate who they are—on and off the field.
