Dining & Wine

Summer dining season has officially arrived, and Vancouver’s restaurants are making the most of it. From lobster feasts and seafood brunches to Provençal tasting menus, steak masterclasses and refreshing seasonal dishes, there’s no shortage of reasons to book a table this month. Here’s what we’re adding to our July dining calendar.

1. Cool Down with Summer’s Freshest Flavours at Loam Bistro

If your ideal summer meal is light, bright and packed with seasonal produce, Loam Bistro has you covered all month long with its Summer Refresh menu.

Standouts include a Watermelon & Labneh Salad layered with cucumber ribbons, arugula, feta, toasted pistachios and honey-mint dressing, alongside a vibrant Mango Yogurt Bowl featuring Greek yogurt, mango purée, seasonal fruit, granola and chia seeds. To sip? The refreshing Yuzu Mist Iced Tea, made with O5 Tea’s Misty Mountain Black Tea, yuzu marmalade and star anise.

2. Elevate Tea Time—Then Learn the Art of Steak at House of Dawn

Yorkville isn’t the only place embracing elevated afternoon rituals. Vancouver’s House of Dawn Steakhouse has launched an elegant Afternoon High Tea available Wednesday through Sunday, pairing more than 15 premium Chinese teas with delicate pastries, savoury bites and house-made breads from Pastry Chef Leo Liu.

Then, on Sundays, the restaurant shifts gears with immersive Beef Masterclasses, where Executive Chef James Yang guides guests through premium steaks from Canada, the U.S., Australia and Japan while exploring marbling, terroir, grading systems and steak craftsmanship.

3. Celebrate Lobster Season at Coast Restaurant

Lobster lovers, this one’s for you.

Throughout July, Coast Restaurant is serving a luxurious Lobster Summer menu ($68 per person) starring everything from a Miso Butter Lobster Roll and Lobster Louie Salad to a classic 1 lb Lobster Boil, decadent Lobster Thermidor, and Lobster Casarecce Con Salsiccia.

Save room for dessert—either the Warm Banana & Coconut Butter Cake or Coconut Lime Panna Cotta provides the perfect tropical finish.

4. Escape to Provence Without Leaving Vancouver at St. Lawrence

Michelin-starred St. Lawrence is transporting diners to the South of France with a beautiful new four-course Provence-inspired Table d’Hôte menu.

Created by Chef/Owner J-C Poirier, the ever-evolving seasonal menu celebrates Mediterranean flavours while showcasing exceptional BC ingredients. Depending on what’s freshest each day, expect dishes inspired by Provence such as chickpea panisse, grilled albacore tuna with pistou, bouillabaisse, and braised lamb with mint pesto.

Available Tuesday through Sunday from 5 p.m., the experience is priced at $110 per person.

5. Score a Three-Course French Feast for Just $39 at Lorette

Great French dining doesn’t have to come with a luxury price tag.

This summer, Lorette is introducing a refined three-course prix-fixe menu for just $39 per person.

Begin with options like Ham Hock Soup, Endive & Fuji Apple Salad or Ahi Tuna Tartare before moving on to mains including Pan-Seared Chicken Supreme, Brown Butter Potato Gnocchi, Beef Cheek Bourguignon, Confit Arctic Char or classic Steak Frites. Feeling indulgent? Add-ons like foie gras, scallops and charred asparagus are also available.

6. Brunch Just Got a Seafood Upgrade at Fanny Bay Oyster Bar

One of Vancouver’s favourite seafood destinations is finally serving brunch.

Launching July 11, Fanny Bay Oyster Bar debuts its very first weekend brunch every Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The menu brings the restaurant’s signature seafood focus to brunch classics with dishes including Breakfast Paella, Lobster Biscuit Benny, Crab Cake Benny, Smoked Oyster Quiche and Smoked Salmon & Avocado Toast, alongside sweet favourites like the Bananas Foster Waffle.

And yes—freshly shucked oysters will still be flowing, starting at just $3.50 each.

7. Make July Your Most Delicious Month Yet

Whether you’re craving buttery lobster, Mediterranean-inspired fine dining, French comfort food, seafood brunch, refreshing seasonal produce or an afternoon devoted to tea and pastries, Vancouver’s restaurants are delivering some of their best menus of the year.

Our advice? Come hungry—and don’t wait too long to book. Summer dining season never lasts quite long enough. —Noa Nichol
