If your perfect summer afternoon includes smoky barbecue, fresh lemonade and a stroll around Granville Island, mark July 25 on your calendar.
The Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts (PICA) is hosting a one-day BBQ Pop-Up at its Blue Hat Bakery Café, where chefs and culinary students will be serving up a delicious menu of charcoal-grilled favourites from noon to 3 p.m.
Expect crowd-pleasers like Smoked Pork Shoulder, BBQ Corn Ribs with Chimichurri ($6), refreshing House-Made Watermelon Lemonade ($2) and decadent Double Chocolate Brownies ($3). It’s the perfect excuse to grab lunch while supporting the next generation of Canadian chefs.
Can’t make it? PICA’s summer lineup also includes week-long cooking camps for kids and teens, plus an appearance at Richmond’s Garlic Festival on August 15. Delicious days are definitely ahead. —Noa Nichol
