The best part of your next vacation might begin before you even land.
Air Canada has unveiled a thoughtful new approach to in-flight wellness, introducing upgraded bedding across all cabins and redesigned premium amenity kits featuring luxurious skincare from Canadian wellness brand Sahajan. The goal? To help travellers sleep better, stay hydrated and step off the plane feeling genuinely refreshed—not simply well-rested enough to power through jet lag.
“Our goal was to take the feedback of our customers and create a new, best-in-class standard for arriving at their destination refreshed,” says Jacqueline Harkness, Managing Director, Products & Services at Air Canada. “We focused on smart materials and retail-quality products. Every detail was selected to create a more restful and restorative journey onboard.”
The upgrades begin with sleep. Economy and Premium Economy passengers on international flights will receive a plush six-foot polar fleece blanket—the longest offered by any airline—while Signature Class travellers will enjoy a new duvet with lightweight insulation and an upgraded AirFlow pillow designed to regulate temperature throughout the flight.
“We spent two years developing ergonomic eye masks and included premium 3M earplugs to physically block out cabin disruptions,” Harkness explains. “The new duvet provides warmth and a soft, comforting feel without being heavy, while the AirFlow pillow encourages breathability and helps maintain a comfortable sleeping temperature.”
Perhaps the most exciting addition for beauty lovers is the collaboration with Sahajan, the female-founded Canadian skincare brand known for blending Ayurvedic traditions with clinically backed ingredients.
“We feel an immense sense of pride and responsibility to showcase Canadian brands to millions of international travellers,” says Harkness. “What we love about Sahajan is that it gives customers exactly what they need at 30,000 feet.”
Inside every Signature Class amenity kit are two of the brand’s cult favourites: Lip Karma, formulated with nourishing castor and argan oils to create a lasting moisture barrier, and The Hand Remedy, a rich yet fast-absorbing cream that delivers instant relief without leaving hands greasy.
The wellness-focused experience extends beyond skincare. Created in partnership with Canadian hospitality company Hunter Amenities, the redesigned amenity kits are housed in reusable recycled-cotton drawstring bags and include thoughtful essentials like an antimicrobial bamboo toothbrush, premium eye mask and cozy socks—all designed to live on long after the flight is over.
“It’s very important to us to create moments of comfort and self-care at 30,000 feet,” Harkness says. “We wanted every cabin to benefit from an elevated experience, with the same focus on rest and recovery carried throughout.”
The redesign reflects a broader shift in how people travel today. More than simply getting from one destination to another, passengers are increasingly seeking experiences that feel intentional, restorative and beautifully considered.
“Travellers today are looking for a more comfort- and wellness-focused experience that’s multi-sensory,” says Harkness. “Take the Signature Class amenity bag—it’s made from recycled cotton and designed to be reused long after the flight, not tossed the moment you land. This launch is really the next step in our design philosophy, making sure the warmth of our hospitality is felt at every altitude.”
And while every detail has been carefully engineered, Harkness has one personal favourite.
“I think what will really surprise our customers is the thinking behind the two different sleep masks,” she says. “Signature Class features a contoured mask designed for maximum comfort while lying flat, while Premium Economy uses a soft neoprene mask with a dedicated nose bridge that stays secure and comfortable in a reclined seat. It’s those kinds of thoughtful details that help set a new standard for in-flight comfort.”
If wellness travel starts the moment you leave home, Air Canada’s latest upgrades suggest your self-care routine can now begin before takeoff. —Noa Nichol
