For our holiday party, we fully embraced the “bake it or borrow it?” conundrum by, well, doing both.
We did a cookie exchange, combining platters of delicious chocolate covered wafer cookies with my rustic “homemade” shortbread (made with President’s Choice mix…shhhh). We must admit, the President’s Choice cookie mix was an easy way to spend less time in the kitchen, and more time with our guests. Win/win!
Here’s my husband doling out cheese and charcuterie – I love how he presented it on a dramatic round of cherry wood that he had finished by Union Wood Co. A must for your cheese plate are the PC Black Label Mini Black Peppercorn and Cherry Artisan Crisps—the perfect bite-size crackers paired with a hard goat’s cheese.
We always recommend bubbles at the bar, and we love the PC Black Label Sparkling Peach Lemonade, made with water from French Vosges Sandstone. Blend it into cocktails or serve it alone.
The President’s Choice Pad Thai Spring Rolls were delicious and a low- maintenance way to please a packed party (plus they make a good vegetarian option). Try serving them Vietnamese style like we did – wrapped in a crisp bib lettuce leaf and sprinkled with Thai basil and mint.
The PC Coconut Chicken Lollipops are addictive. Just make sure you buy enough! Everyone also loved the new Moroccan Cigars, filled with spicy beef.
Quite a few of our guests commented that they always stop at Superstores for their stocking stuffers and hostess gifts: I love these French tea towels, rain deer mugs and oversized dark chocolate bars – all gifts under $8.
And for a super-easy dessert? We served a scoop of PC Salted Caramel Ice Cream “affogato”- style (with a shot of espresso poured over it).
I did all my shopping at the Loblaws City Market in North Vancouver – and used my PC Plus app to earn points on all these products – a happy bonus to holiday grocery shopping!
